Moffat & returning villains

Heeroyuy

Lieutenant
Any thoughts on Moffat & bringing back villains from either RTD's run or the classic series?

Granted, he'll probably use the Daleks at some point, maybe not in 2010, but Smith should meet them eventually-every Doctor has had a Dalek story except #8 (Unless you count the novels/audios).

RTD's handling of the Cybermen has recieved a bit of criticism from fans, as they're not the classic Mondasian Cybermen. It's possible we'll still see more of the "Cybus brand" Cybermen for budget reasons as well, but we'll see. I think that the brain transplant as oppossed to the full body conversion took a little bit of the "body horror" element out of them, but we'll see.

I'd actually like to see Moffat handle the Autons. "Rose" didn't really do them justice, as the plot was more concerned with reintroduing the Doctor and introducing Rose, and the Autons sort of lost a lot of their spookiness.
Autons seem right up Moffat's alley.

Any other thoughts/ideas?

The Black guardian, The Rani, Boss, Meddling Monk, Omega.......i think the list is endless.
The Black Guardian should only be brought back if The Black Chicken Of Doom is stapled to his head to be used as a s fine hat, just like the original.

:D

Whilst I'm hoping we get a bit of time off from the Daleks I do want to see them again, same with the Cybermen. I'm probably more eager to see the Sontarans again more than anything else, possibly in an actual episode with some Rutans (I don't believe they've ever shared screen time together which is odd!)

Not sure about the Autons. To be honest I can see Moffat shying away from using too many classic monsters. From the RTD era the race I'd most like to see return are the Krillitanes, all other interesting foes from the last few years have tended to me more one off villains: weeping Angels, the Midnight creature etc.

Please no more Slitheen!

Whoever plays him should also have Valentine Dyall's wonderfully over the top evil cackle as well...

There was a rumour doing the rounds a couple of months back that

Moffat wanted to put the Daleks in the first episode "to get them out of the way" and that he was then going to give them a rest for a bit.

Don't know how true that was or whether it's been debunked since.

Actually, I think the rumor was that
the BBC wanted Moffat to write a two-part Dalek premiere but he was opposed to the idea.

Moffat said in DWM several months ago "I can tell you nothing of our plans (except, obviously, THEY'RE BACK!)". And RTD mentioned in his book that he'd learned about some of Moffat's plans for series five and that, while he'd expected a "no old monsters" rule, he was wrong. So there'll definitely be at least one returning villain/monster.

Ahh okay, that sounds very likely. There was another one which suggested that the

Zygons might be the Big Bad of the season

but that was a while ago. I can't see him not using old monsters occasionally, one of the things I think the RTD era got right was mixing the old and the new (aside from the overuse of the Daleks) and it's always good publicity for the show when they revive an "old favourite."

Why hasn't the Doctor ever traveled back into the past to when the Silurians ruled the Earth? That would be a great idea for an episode.

Obviously, they can't be called "Silurians".

I never thought of that kind of angle, but Lovecraftian Silurians....ooh I likes it!
There were quite a few old foes that could be Lovecraftian. The Rutans, The Madragora, the Osirans, the Fendahl, and the Mara just to name a few.
