Moffat Out, Chris Chibnall in

A short break isn't always a bad thing. No doubt however no doubt the usual compaints will come up any time the BBC cancels/delays/losses something i.e. why do I pay the license fee for.

Meh, like I said somewhere else, though it sucks, I've made my peace with it and it doesn't really bother me that much, especially now that it's all laid out in the open and made official. The silence was the only thing bothering me before now, as it gave the impression everyone had just stuck their heads in the sand hoping they could avoid addressing the issue.
Cool for you (I guess). Some of us expect better run organizations that can figure out how to get things done. I'm not in the habit of settling for less, but there's nothing to be done in this case. Oh well.

It is odd that it's a long wait, not for the new era, but for Moffat's last series! Even longer for the new era to start.

Oh, I don't know. I can tell you, BBC is definitely calling better shots than management where I work.

It's true, I certainly am.

Seems oddly appropriate, since Moffat's era is all about waiting (waiting is even part of Amy Pond's storyline) so it only makes sense we have to wait for the end

Even longer for the new era to start.
Actually, we're waiting the exact same amount of time between the announcement of Chibnall taking over (2016) and his first season (2018) as we did between the announcement RTD was going to revive the show (2003) and the first season airing (2005) and the announcement Moffat was taking over (2008) and his first season (2010). Two years for a new showrunner to get things in order seems to be the norm for Doctor Who these days.

Oh boy

Capaldi's got knee trouble. He arrived at the Radio Times Party using a walking stick

He was also sporting a beard

I hope he keeps the beard for Season 10. I don't think any of the previous Doctors from Eccleston forward had beards. Might be a fun in-joke in the first episode, probably better than what the sonic glasses were. Maybe it can be sonic beard? ;)

I forgot Matt Smith had a beard at one point. Still, Capaldi with a Beard in season 10 would be nice.

This won't work since the new companion probably wouldn't know about the master or be familiar with the doctor but

Companion- What's with the beard?

Twelve- Side-effect of kissing the master and transferring genetic material

BTW I hope that comes back to haunt the doctor that he transferred DNA when he kissed Missy

I think I recall reading an interview with Capaldi where he said he'd talked with past Doctors and been warned that the part would be rough on his knees due to all the running.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Doctor with a walking stick, though. Bring back a bit of that Hartnell panache. Although I presume Twelve's walking stick would have a sword in it... (Or maybe a spoon?)

It was announced that he had knee surgery back in November; he sustained an injury while filming season 9.

Same injury as Matt too.

When I first met Matt he was on crutches, and I asked, “What happened to you?” And he said, “This show mate.”

Still, Capaldi with a Beard in season 10 would be nice.

I remember a couple years ago seeing pictures of him with a Van Dyke beard and hoping he would keep that as the Doctor. Alas, it wasn't meant to be. A shame, I think Capaldi totally rocks that look and it would have been awesome on the Doctor.

I think the trouble is that was kinda his Richelieu look from the Musketeers so it might have been a tad confusing at the time. I think it would work better now.

I think he looks nice in that picture and would like that if he kept his beard.
