Modern Warfare2 General Thread

Sad to say, but if you're suffering too much with lag then just equip the noob tube. As long as it impacts somewhere near them it'll still kill them.

I hate using it, but sometimes it's the only way you're going to have a chance against 'fcuk off' deaths where you seemingly get shot around a corner!

I think the "host advantage" was one of the reasons I had a marathon session last night. I had a such a good thing going, I hated to give it up. I started the night with about 5000 kills and around 5555 deaths for a .90 k/d ratio. By the time the night was over, I had raised that to 0.94. So that gives you an idea of the kind of run I had last night. And again, it wasn't like I suddenly got good at a game I've sucked at for months.

^^^Enjoy it and hope next time you play your host again.:techman:

I admit my noob killing consists of always using a claymore, then one man army to place another claymore.....

Well I do attribute some of it to some changes I made. For one thing, under the heading of "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em" I tried the sniper class again. And after making some changes to my perks and attachments, I finally found some things that seem to work for me. For one thing, I retried thermal scopes and found I really like them. It really helps with my "seeing problems."

Even still, after awhile last night, I realized those changes couldn't make THAT much of a difference. So I enjoyed the run while I had it until I finally just got too tired to play. I'm almost afraid to go back and play some before I'm afraid I'll go back to sucking ass again.

Oh speaking of claymores, I confess to having started using them and having some success. And using the Scavenger perk to pick up more. I feel kind of hypocritcal for using them though as I used to cuss everyone who did. But again, "If you can't beat 'em . . . " But so far, I'm still resisting heavy use of the noob tube. I pretty much only break it out when somebody on the other team noob tubes me.

^^^I will tell you was suck ass is, me running about with a sniper rife with a acog scope on it wondering why i could not snipe anybody.

Although i had no idea you picked up other claymore with a scavenger perk.......that's new to me.

Best set up-HC TDM

AR of some sort(I like the Tar, Scar and Acr) with tubes
pp2000 machine pistol or one of the shotguns

Claymores

Perk 1-Scavenger (reload claymores/tubes-you can have 2 claymores in existence at any given time)

Perk 2-Cold-blooded

Perk 3-Ninja

Variation-take a thumper instead of a second gun-that's 4 rifle grenades-all reloadable(do not take the Scar-not enough ammo for this set up)

This class is good on most maps and works real well clearing tight spaces like Burgertown or the Wasteland bunker, cave on Afghan, etc. For "fluky" maps like Favela or Rundown different load-outs may be required. I do just fine-and NEVER carry a sniper. My closest class is an FAL w/ACOG. Unlike WAW, snipers aren't really needed in this game.Although they can be devestating in the right hands, a little patience and an ACOG(I often put one on my ACR) can even the situation out.

I'm definitely going to try that setup, i love my claymores, I'm sorry i know its a noob thing but what can i say, if i get 4/5 kills a game im over the moon.

I just found out the other day how much I hate noobtubes... I felt so dirty when I got the game-winning kill on Team Deathmatch with one, and everytime I killed someone, I felt an almost irresistable urge to apologize and explain that I was only do it for the unlock on my gun.

You've been complaining about .90?!? I'm sitting on .74, so :angryrazz:.

Tubes are not "dirty" - they are my compensator for chumps with steadier hands than I possess. There is a certain thrill in pulling a Bird vs Jordan shot with one. "Over the transition bridge, between the window frame and kill the guy on the internal ladder climbing up the shaft..." or "through the trees, over the half-wall and hit the black car for a collateral explosion..." or "through the cockpit window, out the back of the wreckage and under the wing to get the sniper lying there...from the big bunker window..."

I live for shots like that...especially since I'm stuck at .94 on my K/D and can't budge it an inch.

Oh, don't get me wrong- I know the tubes aren't dirty and they're a valid part of the game. It's just a thing where I hate tubes so much that I feel bad when I'm having to use them to. It's sort of like when I try camping.... I get antsy and can't do it because I'm so anti-camping that I specifically hunt them down.

Yeah that's me exactly. I prefer the straight up firefights to grenade spam battles. That's not to say I can't appreciate the right time for a tactical use of a noob tube, I just hate it when that's ALL they use. Seems cheap in that context.

And I don't like using them if I can avoid it. Honestly I feel a little bit that way with the claymores too, but I've started using them too.

Oddly enough, I'm not too bad with the ACOG scope on the sniper rifle, in fact I think I like it better than the default scope believe it or not. Prefer thermal though.

Sorry, didn't mean to rub it in. It's just that when I play, it feels like I'm getting "pwn'd" ALL the time. But after I read your comment I went and looked at my friends list and saw that a 0.90 k/d ratio isn't too bad. Of course, I play TDM exclusively so I feel like anything less than 1.0 is not good (in terms of contributing to the team victory I mean).

Played a little on XBL tonight. I was not the host and it showed. The "host advantage" apparently is not just a little advantage, it's quite a bit of an advantage. Got a lot of the "Oh Bullshit" deaths tonight.

This whole host/not the host difference has really kind of left a sour taste in my mouth for online gaming.

It worked when I signed in last night. Just went Prestige again-got owned 3-17. Then ran into a guy who admitted post-game that his team was using a mod to suppress rifle grenades-said they wouldn't "Let them explode." Switched rooms, went 18-4. 17-18. 14-2. 14-7. 22-9. Picked up 11 levels in an hour and a half, despite some bad games mixed in. And this was in Core, where everyone runs around like a headless chicken. I'm back.......

Haha! Just had a game of Sabotage on the Wasteland map, and finished 73-14.

Best. Game. Ever.

I tell you what, I don't know why the first time I tried the thermal scope I didn't like it, because now I feel helpless without it. In fact I almost feel like I'm cheating with it at times. I'm not really racking up big scores, but I'm more consistently finishing games with a 1+ k/d ratio. Something that was unheard of just a couple of weeks ago.

I've retired my PS3 version for now after reaching level 70 and I'm working on 360 version. I was astonished to see I'd raised my K/D ratio from it's low of around 0.5 to 0.98 now. Because it's funny, I still feel liked I'm getting "pwn'd" all the time. I guess everything is perception.

I tell you what, this game is maybe one of the most addictive games I've ever played. I get frustrated and annoyed as hell with it sometimes (I'm looking at you noob-tubers  ) but damn it's a fun game.

My level of PMs while playing a level have increased dramatically with the usual content of "Claymore (insert very exotic profanity here), of late, when i found out you can continue to use one man army over and over again to replenish your claymore supplies and continue to place a claymore once your other two have blown up.......what a lot of fun, well for me anyway.

Yeah I have to say I've been taking some perverse pleasure in getting claymore kills of late. I use the Scavenger perk to replenish my claymores and they're amazingly effective. I'm sure I get cussed a lot because I know how I feel when one gets me.

I've finally given up trying to play the game as a straight up shooter and have become more of an asshole in my methods and wouldn't you know my k/d ratio is going up.

I still say it wouldn't hurt my feelings if they made a version of this game that didn't have things like sniper rifles, claymores, noob tubes, etc. The MOST fun I have is when you're just in good old fashioned firefight slugging it out with the other team. For example I was on Invasion the other night and rounded corner and ran into what seemed like the whole frickin other team. I survived the onslaught until my SPAS ran out of shells. Got my care package killstreak in the span of about 3 seconds. To me, that's what this game should be about, not all the grenades, claymores, sniper rifles etc. Just players straight up fighting out man to man. It was awesome!
