Modern Warfare2 General Thread

Whoa, new quoteboxes(?) are melting my brain. Played single player and have fired the M16A4... as far as I can remember it's full auto, not three round burst.

I bought WaW when it went on sale for like $30 but never really played it. I think I only played the demo online, sadly. I do recall Gewehr from the original CoD, and I didn't like it. My CoD heritage is all about playing the large open United Offensive expansion maps and rocking open sight mosin nagant or kar98k. M16A2 was as close to that feel as I could get in CoD4... Right now I'm using the SCAR-H or whatever.

I suppose I'll go check out gamefaqs and see if someone has good comparison charts for both of the games, maybe FAMAS will do the trick and I just need to get my CoD legs back. Charting out the characters and vehicles for Mario Kart Wii did wonders for me online :)

Saw a rating chart-the FAMAS is weak w/out silencer, weaker still with. The Fal? Most powerful gun in the game. :)

FAL = 50

Famas=30(There are stronger pistols).

FAL is ok, the only problem is in order to do the semi-auto trigger pull fast enough for it to be effective I pretty much have to abandon the right thumbstick and uhhh... lose my ability to aim. I need that M16A4!

Decent FAQs still haven't seemed to have rolled in for multiplayer... I'm thinking I'll just rotate through all the weapons getting the smaller kill count challenges or something... I don't know... anybody got any good ideas for grinding XP in MW2?

It sucks that the FAMAS is rated so weakly in multiplayer, I kicked ass with it every time I used it in the campaign. Maybe once I upgrade to Gold I'll still try it out.

SCAR is pretty much the way to go in the early levels it seems, if you're going for the assault rifle route.

I started using FAMAS too, but have now switched to SCAR as soon as it was available as the stats seem better. In practice it seems to have better stopping power too.

the weapon unlock levels seem misplaced, I mean seriously? the AK-47 is the last AR to unlock? it's one of the crappiest weapons in the game! and why even bother with 9 AR's? hell, after the TAR-21 none of the rifles perform any better, and the micro-uzi being available AFTER the p-90 seems a piss-poor idea, and the shotguns...ugh, they should have stopped after the striker

My standard loadout for non-specialized killing is the M16 with double attachment perk, red dot sight, and either FMJ rounds, or grenade launcher. Nothing else can touch that.

But depending on the match type and whatever my team needs I might be running with a sniper rifle or P-90 or something. Heck, lugging the M240 around is fun too on certain levels, punching through walls and wiping people out.

I'm discovering that not only does my level of suckage at this game reach unprecedented magnitudes, I'm also one of the unluckiest people to play the game. A couple of examples from last night:

In one game, they kept calling in predator strikes and our team was not bunched up so the guy calling strike just basically just got to take out one target. And for whatever reason, that one target was always me. SEVERAL times.

In another game, they called in a Hind and I'm caught out in the open trying to get under cover and of course the helicopter gets me. I respawn, back out in the open, and I can't get to cover before guess what, the helicopter gets me again. Respawn again, AGAIN out in the open only this time a sniper gets me from a window before I can reach cover.

I told my friend this morning that I think it's time I face facts and give up online gaming. :(

I wouldn't worry about it too much especially in Modern Warefare 2 because the online gameplay is about as balanced as my diet ;). On another note I tried my friends 360 version out on single player and decided that my dad shall be buying it me for christmas :p

Well I'd like to believe that, but I know it's mostly me, I just don't have "it." Part of it is that I'm getting to be "older than dirt" as I approach 50 and my already slow reflexes are getting even worse.

Been going TAR lately, good killing power but the bullets won't necessarily go where you tell them to. There's definitely a large luck component. I think I got the same Predator guy as you once or twice, very annoying. Last night in back to back rounds I first went 1 kill, 15 deaths, including the first 10 deaths without getting that 1 kill.. then the next round I went 26 kills to 3 deaths.

I still don't like most of the levels. I think the graphics have gotten a little too busy, or maybe my old 720p 3LCD projector from 4 years ago just doesn't have enough contrast, but it's really hard to see people. As in I will be looking right at them, not 10 feet away, then turn away without seeing them and get shot. Killcam mocks me. I think Terminal and Afghan are two of my favorites just because they're well-lit for the most part.

I beat single player last night as well... pretty fun, but the plot is pretty disjointed. Especially on these points:
Why did Shepard betray the British guys? Why did price launch a nuke at Washington DC? We saw Price in the first MW right? Do we know how he ended up in the gulag?

I'm in the same boat. I spend a lot of time "camping" in this version vs WAW or MW1. It seems to work better. There are a lot of out-of-the-way spots you wouldn't think you can get to-but you can. Don't give up!

I have a brand new tv and have the same issue. I have also noticed that the game steamrolls-get on a quick 1-2-3 kill streak and it feeds you victims, get killed without taking anyone out a couple times in a row and it beats on you rest of the game. Also, I've noticed that the last 2 minutes I suck. I'll be 7-4 or something and finish 7-12. Not sure why this happens but I have noticed it happen to my teammates too. Pisses me off. But I can't stop playing.

Latest weapon load-out is: Fal w/scope and shotgun. The shotgun hits from FAR away. Try it out, folks. You'll be surprised.

Cold Blooded should have been a perk that they gave at level 10 or 15 or something. It makes the game infinitely less frustrating because you can't get taken out by any of the crap that people can call in.

I mean, a Harrier or a AC-130? Guh.

Yeah I'm having a LOT of trouble seeing people and hell I've got a pretty big screen (52 inches). Mine's a 4 year old LCD rear projection set, and I was just telling a friend I was wondering if the contrast and brightness issues weren't hampering me a little on seeing the enemy.

Yoda,
he was imprisioned in the gulag just after MW1, thats why Soap gave him the 1911, it's the 1911 that Price slid him at the very end of the game

50" Sony Grand Wega here... I've tweaked the settings endlessly. Maybe it's time to upgrade to OMG TRUE 1080P!!!!! (even though CoD runs at sub 720p res :) )

So was he imprisoned right at the end of MW by the 'good russians'? That doesn't really make sense to me. Why wouldn't Soap also be imprisoned. It's been a couple of years since I played CoD4... Any thoughts on my other questions about the sub launch and Shepard?

Shepherd turned on Task Force 141 because that data they discovered in Russia would have revealed Shepherd's collusion with Makarov and ruined his whole scheme.

Price launched the nuke at Washington, D.C. so that the EMP blast would disrupt the Russian invasion and give the American forces a chance to retake the city.

We don't know how he ended up in the gulag or why. I doubt the Russian Loyalists would have put him in there, seeing as he was fighting for their side in the civil war. Maybe after the Ultranationalists came to power in Russia, they apprehended Price and tossed him into the worst prison they had.

Honestly, I don't know if "he" planned it from the beginning or near the end. The character development is just pretty shallow.

Just had easily my best round at the game. Team Deathmatch on Sub Base. Went to the FAL, put two rounds into the first guy I found... who happened to be running around with M16A4 Bling (silenced + red dot). OMG that thing was awesome. I went into cautious mode because I didn't want to lose my gun.. thankfully I use the Scavenger perk... which is great, never run out of ammo, and you get fresh grenades as well... anyway, between my M16, my precision missile, Harrier, and Pavelow I managed to go 20-0. 6 more levels to level 40, can't wait!

He hand-picked Allen to "infiltrate" Makarov's inner circle, and then gave him up to Makarov so that Allen, and thus America, would take the fall for the attack on the Russian airport. The Russian authorities finding the body of a CIA operative made it look like the attack was backed by the American government.
