More good news: The CT scan came back normal and Acuña is day to day.
24-4...I think this is a Mets franchise record.
A few updates. Urena has been suspended for six games and fined an undisclosed amount. Acuna is in the lineup for tonight’s game (vs. Colorado). Meanwhile, Keith Hernandez, who defended Urena yesterday, has doubled down on his idiocy.
Keith Hernandez said:"I draw the line on anything from the neck above -- head hunting. And also with a pitcher with an intent to hurt. Sometimes you have to brush people back."
Six games...is that six overall games or six starts for Urena? Not that big of a suspension if it's six overall because that would only cost Urena no more than two starts.
That makes sense. Thanks for clearing that up for me.It's six games because it forces him to miss a start, and this is entirely due to how salary gets paid out. MLB players are paid on a per-team-game basis. If you wanted Urena to miss, like, six starts, you'd have to give him something like a 30-game suspension, and the union would--rightfully--flip its shit at something like that, because you'd be saying that a 30-game pitcher suspension would be worth about 15 percent of their annual salary, but a relatively standard position player 5-game suspension would cost them about 3 percent of annual pay.
Rizzo gives Strop "the stare" after Strop hit a batter in the ninth.
Aaaand, Chatwood is out after 2+ innings.
Chatwood is... not good at baseball.
Yeah, the Cubs took a chance on him based on his non-Coors numbers and his ~spin rate~ and it's backfired, badly. Time to Edwin Jackson him, eat the money and just do an outright DFA.
Yu Darvish out of his first rehab start after 1 inning
ETA: More elbow pain. I'd consider Yu's season over.
