MLB World Series 2018: Eh. Dodgers/Boston. Eh.

Twins and the Expos. The Twins ended up getting a new stadium, and the Expos moved to D.C.

It was messier than that. The franchise rights moved to DC, but Jeffrey Loria moved literally everything--down to the file cabinets--to Florida. It was all a shell game to get John Henry owning the Red Sox.

Roll that by me one more time...

The actual Expos operations, staff and all, went to Florida, while John Henry sold the Marlins franchise to Loria for a penny (figuratively speaking) and then bought the Red Sox in a sweetheart deal. The Expos' franchise rights were purchased by MLB, which operated the team until it found an ownership group of its liking in DC.

Totally legit and above board...

I've heard talk about changing the name of Yawkey Way. I know there's a lot of Redsox fans here, I'm curious as to what y'all think about this...

I'm not a Sox fan, but I imagine that like some of us Cardinals fans, they play the "what if?" game on integration. St. Louis was basically a southern town and the Cards were late to integrate (1954) and so never really put the team around Stan Musial they could've if they'd have seriously gone after some of the future black Hall of Famers being signed in the late-1940s and early 1950s.

Yawkey probably cost the Red Sox more pennants than "the curse." They gave Jackie Robinson a farcical try out in 1945 with no intent of signing him. Most say he did It just to be seen as having at least tried out a black player. Yawkey (and Joe Cronin) also passed on a scout's recommendation to sign Willie Mays. Just as Cardinal fans feel Musial was squandered by the Cards being slow to integrate, Ted Williams was wasted in Boston because the owner put race above winning.

Of course, Boston has never been a very good town for black athletes (to play in or visit). The Celtics were an early team to integrate in the NBA (having done so before the Red Sox), but Bill Russell was treated so horribly that he'd say he played for the Celtics, but not for Boston.

So people don't like the error rule. I don't care, but if MLB got rid of the error then what would the difference be between a perfect game and a no hitter? Just not walking anyone?

Here's a fun fact, the Red Sox have hit their 6th grand slam of the year, after not hitting a single one last year. I find that amazing.
