MLB World Series 2018: Eh. Dodgers/Boston. Eh.

Baseball stadiums with roofs are the worst thing ever. This isn't football or basketball where every stadium or court is the same, it's baseball.

Have you been to Milwaukee in March or April? It's not exactly, uh, pleasant.

Suck it the fuck up.

As long as the roofs are retractable, it's not so bad.

That being said, I find it rather hilarious that the Rangers are only just now getting around to building a roofed ballpark...after having played in Arlington for 40+ years, they FINALLY realized that it tends to get hot in Texas? :guffaw:

Yeah, 24 years since the current ballpark replaced Arlington Stadium (was it not hot in Texas in the 1990's?). Which makes it even funnier that they'll be playing in another, covered ballpark soon.

Equally amusing is the fact that stadiums don’t seem to last very long anymore. The Braves played at Turner Field for twenty years before moving prior to last season.

That's because Fulton County--justifiably so--refused to fork out for the improvements the Braves wanted to Turner Field, so they decided to take the sweetheart Cobb County deal (which, by the way, has gutted the county's budget for things like education and infrastructure).

^I’m amazed that the franchise seems to keep finding itself in the hands of owners who treat the fans like shit. Jeter actually looks worse than Loria because he fired Jeff Conine after the original Florida Marlin wouldn’t take a pay-cut this past off-season. Not exactly the way to win followers or build trust.

1. Don't play in March.
2. Have northern teams open the season in warmer places and delay home opener.
3. Wear a hat, have a drink, enjoy cheaper tickets.

Who needs education and infrastructure when 15,000 folks show up for 81 games a year?!? If the poor need those things, they should pull themselves up by their bootstraps like the Braves did! :shifty:

I lived in Madison for four years, It stays cold in Wisconsin until mid-May. Eliminating March home games wouldn’t make a difference.

I know, it's why making the season shorter because 'it's cold' is so stupid. April 1 to April 15th makes very little difference. I just don't like March or November baseball to me. But play whenever you want, just don't blame the weather this year because last year in Boston two weeks ago it was in the 80s and this year it snowed.

And speaking of Boston, the real team is starting to show.

Baseball's top prospect who isn't a two-way player has been promoted to the Majors. I hope for the Braves' sake (and my fantasy team's sake) that Ronald Acuna Jr. lives up to the hype.

Skydome/Rogers Centre will be 30 next year and has barely been updated since then. They should've taken a chance in 2015 and 2016 and put money into a new ballpark or extensive renovations while they have massive fan support. But as long as the building remains multi-use (including monster truck racing!), it'll be a sub par baseball park.

Will Toronto hand over a boatload of money to the Blue Jays?

Not sure where the Blue Jays would threaten to go.

Wasn't it only ten years ago that MLB talked about getting rid of two teams to consolidate the pool of players? I thought those teams were the Twins (who fucking blew it again last night!!!) and the Blue Jays?
