Congratulations to the Rangers on their first-ever postseason series win. Should be an exciting ALCS! :techman:

Also I thought it was very thoughtful of the Rangers to celebrate with ginger ale instead of champagne (mindful of Josh Hamilton's past struggles).

And: Fredi Gonzalez hired as new Braves manager? Linky

That's a nice touch to the celebration.

I wanted a Rays-Twins ALCS, naturally its Yanks-Rangers.

I could deal with another NYY-Philly WS.

I can already tell it's going to become tiresome hearing Halladay being called "Doc". I don't even know why he has that nickname...the guy he's named after was Doc Holliday. Having a similar sounding name doesn't seem like enough to warrant a nickname. Not to mention people keep saying he "carves up the opposition with surgical precision." The real Doc Holliday was a dentist.

It's a reference to Doc Holliday. In name only. It's not a big deal, it's just a nickname. Not everybody gets the greatest nickname ever.

The world could use more people like Josh Hamilton's teammates! :techman:

Bobby Valentine was offered the position of Marlins manager but declined. Here's hoping the Mets can get him back. God knows they need him. I know he's not exactly on best terms with the Wilpons but I think they can put that behind them. Bobby V lit a *fire* under the Mets, which is exactly what they need now.

^He wore out his welcome there once, and I'm not keen on hiring a manager that already doesn't get along with ownership. It's a recipe for disaster.

I think people tend to look back on that era with rosey glasses because they made that World Series, but the Bobby V era was anything but smooth sailing.

That's not saying much, considering Lloyd McClendon would probably be better than Jerry Manuel.

Well this Yankee game sure got off to quite the start didn't it? Looks like I should've just kept watching In Treatment.

As a Phillies fan I would fully support this move.

Phans were very disappointed in the Wilpons for firing Minaya and Manuel. They were guaranteed entertainment.

^ Bet you're glad you didn't watch In Treatment now, eh? ;)

What a game that was. Rangers bullpen just upended itself during the 8th inning. Pity that CC didn't do so well either, but he's got time to fix things.

As a rangers fan, tonight was a huge letdown.

But damn, we were so close. I think this is going to be a close series.
