MLB Talk - 2010 Season

The actual guy never made it to the stadium because of the snow.

There are debates as to whether or not the replacement was drunk and in an ill-fitting Santa suit. He denies it, everyone else seems to think he was. The story at times seems to have taken on mythic proportions, so it's difficult to tell.

So Nyjer Morgan of the Nationals was suspended seven games for throwing a ball at a fan in Philadelphia. This seemed to come out of nowhere when the suspension was announced since nothing was written about it and there's no video footage of it. Allegedly he was having a heated exchange with one fan, threw the ball at him and hit someone else. And MLB is insistent that it's not the typical "tossing the ball into the stands at the end of the inning."

Since he's appealed the suspension, he's rammed two catchers, the Florida one now out for the season with a shoulder injury.

This guy seems to have some issues.

Morgan? This guy is a serious asshole. I'm watching that Nats/Marlins brouhaha right now (from Wednesday) on MLB.TV...man, they're really getting into it...

^I'm pretty sure I'll see bumper stickers in D.C. that say, "I went to a fight and a Nats game broke out". :p Watching that brawl also reminded me of the game in The Naked Gun. :guffaw:

Time for Screech to hit the booze again, methinks:

Morgan had pretty much ALL of the Marlins trying to kick his ass. He's lucky they didn't kill him (although it looked like Chris Volstad and Gaby Sanchez could have!). It was simultaneously very funny and very pathetic.

If Morgan plays any more games this season I will be very surprised.

Looks like Braves are going to lose the division. Just can't beat the Marlins and Nationals, two teams that always give them trouble. I fully expect the Phillies to have the lead in the division by tomorrow night after we get swept by the Marlins.

You know the first thing that came to mind watching the Giants hit all those Home Runs out of Dodger Stadium tonight? That Saturday before the final game of the season where Steve Finley knocked SF out of the Playoffs (And then we got him like a year later). Seeing that comeback couldn't happen against a better team. :techman:

All I can say is that I loooove when Torre brings Broxton in to close. How many blown saves does that oaf have vs. the Giants? My answer: not enough. :)

Lost in 10 to the Marlins. Melky Cabrera is a terrible on defense and a mediocre hitter. Won't be sorry to see him go. He doesn't really seem interested in being a Brave.

Phillies are still 1 game back, they have a double header against the Marlins tomorrow, I'm really hoping they can at least split.

^ Oughta feel better today - Mets are wiping the floor with the Cubs...14-5 at the moment! :techman:

Edit: make that 17-5! :)

(it's almost making me want to watch the WGN feed, just to see those douchebags deal with this. Especially since it's now 18-5!! :guffaw: )

I know. I was wondering what Broxton was doing in there in the 9th, especially since I thought Kou was going to take over the closer role since Broxton has not had a very good season. I still appreciate Torre doing that though. Broxton goes in, the Giants should never be counted out.

Looking forward to this game. Loved the last time the Giants were on ESPN and this is just renewing ties. Should be a fun night in LA.

We Beat the Dodgers!

Now if the Dodgers can turn the angst of defeat into fuel for beating the Padrees, and the Giants can ride this victory into a sweep of Arizona, we'll be in good shape.

Right now, I don't care about the Dodgers/Padres series. Giants just have to do their thing against Arizona, which is harder than it looks given the last series.

Strange ending to the Twins/Rangers game on Sunday. Michael Young was called out for touching the 3rd base coach as he was scrambling back to third (he disputes that they made contact) and the Twins ended up winning 6-5. I couldn't tell if he made contact or not, but with the way the White Sox have been playing, the Twins need every win they can get.
