God, almighty. The Cubs have the highest payroll in the National League at $144 million, they'll finish at .500 only by an utter miracle, and now Carlos Zambrano murders another Gatorade cooler and tries to rip Derrek Lee's head off after pitching like shit in the first inning.

Fun fact: The Chicago Cubs have $103 million in payroll tied up in nine -- nine -- players for 2011.

In 2012, the Cubs owe Carlos Zambrano and Alfonso Soriano a combined $36 million.

Fortunately, Aramis Ramirez has an option for $16 million that year.

At least you've got the Blackhawks to tide you over until football starts. Sorry.

Last night's Yankees/Dodgers game:

What exactly the hell was the point of throwing Torre out of the game WHEN THE GAME WAS OVER ANYWAY?!?!?

How many times has a manager getting thrown out affected the outcome of a game? They either are trying to protect a player and keep the player on the field or they're setting up the next game/ time they have that crew.

On the flip side, the umpires can't get shown up, even at the end of the game, so if the manager shows the ump up, out goes the manager.

As an aside, my mom's cousin played pro ball in the 70's as a catcher. He said you could say almost anything you wanted behind the plate, but when you turned to look at the ump you were gone.

^ what team did your mom's cousin play for?

(One of my uncles played for the Phillies way back when, can't remember which position though.)

So the Red Sox have now lost Dustin Pedroia to a fractured foot, probably for a few months. So to recap, the team has now lost, for extended periods of time, their entire starting outfield, (Jacoby Ellsbury, Mike Cameron, JD Drew), their fourth outfielder (Jeremy Hermida), one of their aces (Josh Beckett), and now their starting second baseman, who was my most accounts, one of the best in the game.

This team is a goddamn mash unit. I just hope they can tread water till they get healthy again. So disappointing.

In reality, 3 Braves relievers combined to blow a 4-1 lead in the 9th to blow Kawakami's (0-9) first win, but the umpire calls ball 4 to Johnny Damon, which would tie the game, strike 3 instead. I mean it was nowhere close. I'm sure Kawakami will gladly take it.

Thought I'd just add to this, as Buchholz just hyper-extended his knee running the bases...

And now apparently Tom Servo is out with multiple gunshot wounds. Frak! Can't anyone stay healthy this year? :shifty:
