MLB Talk - 2010 Season

That Phillies-Mets game was fun. We were dangerously close to being blown out, so we decide to have 9 straight players reach base with a 2 out rally in order to, instead, blow out the Mets (against Santana no less).

^ Go jump in a lake. :scream:

I was feeling pretty good about things. I'd eaten dinner with the first couple innings, then plopped down on the floor to enjoy the end of my weekend. After Santana walked Grampa Moyer, I was getting worried. He didn't have it last night. Then Victorino hit the Slam and I gave up and went to go put away the dinner dishes. Then the Congo line started and I just went to bed.

This is more like the real Mets we expected to see.

Honestly, don't lose all hope. Last year's Mets were a fluke. They have a talented team (rightfully so, since they're able to attract good players due to their location and market). Whether or not they choke this year remains to be seen, but they'll at least be in the running until then. You just played against the two-time defending NL champions. I think some people had doubts about the Phils when they won the Series because they beat the Rays (First place AL East Rays, btw), but I don't think anyone feels this way anymore.

I'd be happy if they were playing meaningful games down the stretch. A Wild Card might be realistic.

Mets are in extra innings vs. Reds...

...and Yanks win over O's, 4-1. :techman:

Only thing is, Mo wasn't the closer. Messrs. Kay and Leiter seemed confused as to why Mo wasn't out there (Joba recorded his first save of the season, BTW). Mo was in the bullpen but not called out to pitch. Anyone know the reason?

I don't have facts but I feel as if they're building up Joba to replace Mo. He is 40 after all and won't be with the Yankees forever.

Anyways, got to go to the game today. It's always nice when your team wins when you're at the game

WAY TO GO FRANCISCO CERVELLI! What a catch!

edit:

ROD BARAJAS HOME RUN!!!! W00t! Give those Reds some hell!!!!

Ernie Harwell died today. He was to receive the Vin Scully Lifetime Achievement Award tomorrow. :(

A sweet win for the G-Men today. Sadly Lincecum still doesn't have a 5th win on his stats even though with 13 strikeouts in 7 innings he sure as hell deserved one. I'll take a no-decision over a loss any day though. They sure did make it interesting today.

Looks like Josh Beckett's losing it big-time...hey buddy, might want to try NOT hitting so many of our Yanks, OK? :wtf: (At least the Yanks managed to wipe the floor with the Sox in the end.)

Edit: And in the other game...HOLY SHIT! What a catch by Ike Davis! He's got the flip AGAIN! Go Mets! :techman:

Edit: FUCKIN' A!! ROD BARAJAS WALK-OFF HOME RUN!!! METS WIN!!! :D :D :D

Hey, the only solace I took it last nights game, WAS Beckett beaning guys left and right. He had no idea where it was going, and if you think it was intentional, then I don't know what to say.

Man, I can't help but feel sorry for fans of the other birds in the AL East. Baltimore just can't seem to catch a break. They've been getting steadily worse since '97, and now they're sitting in the absolute basement. It's pretty sad.

Yankees almost back in first...and they take over the league lead in batting, and runs scored!
