MLB Talk - 2010 Season

Yeah, Peg, the K is cool. It looked so empty in the outfield before they did the renovations, but they really made it work. I just wish it wasn't so far away from Omaha. :scream: :D
I'd go more than once a year if it wasn't a 450 mile drive. I was kind of surprised there were still thousands of Twins fans making the trek down there. I thought once we got an outdoor stadium, the number of Twins fans making the trip would decrease a lot. Guess that goes to show what a great set-up Kansas City has.

Anyone see the O's fan who threw Posada's homerun back, and it landed all the way out right next to the mound? O's should be asking the guy to close for them.

Also: Why are the Mets wearing their road jackets if it's a home game?

Hey look at that, all of a sudden the Red Sox are just three games behind the Yankees...

And Clay Buchholz is turning into a monster. If he has finally figured it all out, watch out American League...

*Edit* He warrants a changing of the Avatar...

Wow, the Giants won on 5th starter night? Wellemayer might have been exercising some inner demons because he did look good tonight. The Giants have a shot to sweep the Phillies out of SF with our Ace going. That should be fun.

The Mets have 482 different uniform combinations, all of which suck. These were probably their home, Tuesday, second game of a doubleheader jackets.

They are in first place though, I wish we could end the season today!

Aside from a few haters, no one thought that the Sox were as bad as they were playing, so not a shock that they've come around a little. Especially considering the opponents. Sox had played the Yankees, Twins, and Rays during that time, and struggled, and then played Baltimore and the Jays, and bounced back. Way too early to determine much of anything one way or the other, although would be nice if Beckett and Lester could figure it out a little quicker. Maybe even win a game by more than one run, before we destroy the bullpen?

He's hard to figure out. Still has a little bit of the Yips when things don't go just right, but when he's on, he's ON. Would certainly make the Sox a dangerous team if they can start to expect easy, dominant games from him on a more regular basis.

On the plus side, the offense hasn't been as bad as suspected, handling things alright for the most part. The "pitching and defense" plan hasn't quite come through, yet, though. Still need a big bat somewhere, we'll see what comes of that. I like that they are splitting time with Ortiz and lowell, though, it's creating better matchups and helping them get something productive out of both of them!

Yeah I was pleasantly surprised how well Wellemeyer pitched. I'm excited about the prospect of a sweep today...and I'll be there to see it with my homemade "FREAK out the Phillies" sign waving. :)

I considered making it "Phreak out the Phillies" but since Lincecum's nickname isn't "The Phreak" it didn't seem to work.

Make that 7 losses in a row for the Braves.

Have I been transported back to the 1970's and I just didn't realize it?

edit: Make it 8 straight!

^Flux,

Great poster. Sad they couldn't get it done. I heard the final few innings, but I think this is why I hate pitch count. The only way to take out Lincecum is if he gives up a run, not a walk or hit. Bochey shouldn't have done that, even though I understand the reasoning for bringing in the Closer. 2 out of 3 is not bad though, given it was the Phillies. Looking forward to the West showdown this week against Colorado.

The poor Blue Jays tonight...15Ks against Sox pitching.

First they get Jon Lester and 95 MPH heat for seven, Dan Bard with his 99-101 MPH fastball, and then Papelbon with his 95 MPH stuff.

Back to .500.

Well, it's good seeing the Yanks bounce back. I guess that west coast trip sucked the life out of them

It's also nice that the Met's aren't a complete waste of flesh. It's amazing what Ike did for that team

I was thinking about your post as Scott Baker (on paper the #1 starter for the Twins) was getting shellacked. Sometimes it's the #5 pitcher that ends up being the steady, reliable guy. Wellemayer was good in the past: Maybe being put in the 5th spot in the rotation is just what he needs. That lack of pressure at the #5 spot seems to be doing wonders for the Twins' Francisco Liriano (of course in his case that extra year after surgery may also have something to do with his resurgence).

Ugly game by the Twins tonight. Up 6-1 and lost 11-6. Nice to see Twins rookie Luke Hughes hit a home run in his first MLB at bat, though. May be a first for any guy from Perth, Australia.
