MLB Pseudo-Season 2020: Roger, Dodgers

I would have actually liked it if the Yanks made it. It would have been sweet kicking their ass out of the ALCS again. I actually dislike the Yankees, for no real reason, but I do. Tampa Bay is just another hurricane prone area like Houston, so whatever. We'll kick their ass, win the World Series, and take home both the trophy and the asterisk at the end of the season.

It's just so tough being the best. :p

A damn good rotation lost this year, Seaver, Gibson, Ford.

And all within the span of 33 days. :(

What's it like being a fan of an unabashed cheating team that insists it did nothing wrong?

At least I don't think they're cheating this year.

Well, k-rap ;) there has been cheating in baseball since it's inception. IIRC, John McGraw, as 3rd base coach and manager for the Giants, once tried to grab a guy by the belt to slow him down to the plate, but the the guy was wise and unhitched his belt and when he broke to the plate he left McGraw standing there with the belt in his hand. Score

I have often said that baseball has never been clean. First, there were doctored balls, then there was institutionalized racism, then there were amphetamines being passed around like Skittles, then there was cocaine, then there were (and are, I personally believe) steroids and other substances. I will die on the hill that Roger Clemens and Barry Bonds should have been first-ballot Hall of Famers. On the same note, that's why I am always of the opinion of "fuck Pete Rose forever," and Shoeless Joe's rotting corpse can go fuck itself, too.

Doesn't change the fact that we shouldn't celebrate cheaters (I give the so-called Steroid Era guys a pass because steroids weren't against the rules of baseball until 2006).

Even though his guilt remains in dispute?

It is generally accepted that Jackson took money. His defenders claim he either didn't know what it was for or that he rejected it and the mob forced it on him, or he just took it and played well anyway. Someone at some point did a breakdown of his at-bats in the World Series, and he was absolutely putrid in any of them that mattered; also apparently played unusually lazy defense, allowing runners to advance, etc.

Whether he threw a single play or not, one talk with one single reporter could have blown the whole thing wide open. Fuck him just as hard as Pete Rose.

May I respectfully ask for the debunking sources of which you claim to have seen? My curiosity is piqued, and I am always open to new information.

I'm prepping for a date at the moment and I'm only on my phone but I promise you I will give you links tomorrow.

FWIW, I don't believe in asterisks. Not this time, anyway.

The way I see it, we were damn lucky to have a 2020 season at all, so this season (and World Series) has, IMHO, as much legitimacy as any other.

Besides, complaining about asterisks smacks of sour grapes anyway.

That being said: Go Dodgers.
