Correct. Vincent was already wildly unpopular with owners, who thought he conceded too much to the MLBPA in labor negotiations. There was a small set of owners, led by Bud Selig, who were staunchly against tossing Vincent, but eventually enough of the kingmakers like Steinbrenner, the Wilpons, Reinsdorf and others eventually twisted Selig's arm and a vote of no confidence was held. Vincent resigned shortly thereafter.
If, as you say, they did that for every clinching team it truly was lame. You would think that the "marketing geniuses" of Nike would have thought of something to individualize each team.
The only ones that I have seen were those that the Reds hauled out, and and not any others. Got any pics of these "Respect" Tees of the other teams?

Why am I not seeing the two STL-DET makeup games listed anywhere? Cards are 2 games short and could finish tied with or below the Reds for seeding. I'll admit it's unlikely the Tiger would win one game, let alone two over the Cards, but WTF?
