Saw that. Dipoto's rebuild might be much larger than just the players on the field.

Assuming Dr. Martin's statements are accurate--and there's no reason to believe otherwise, as there were rumors of this shit when he ran the Angels, and the Mariners had a bunch of old sexual harassment allegations come to light this year--Dipoto is part of the problem. There's very clearly a toxic culture, there.

The new owner has to be more hands-on than Nintendo was. You're bottoming out anyway, take it all apart and get the organization right.

The "eek" was supposed to represent him and the front office as part of what is going to get rebuilt.

Joe Mauer announces his retirement. Linky

They might have picked Mauer over Mark Prior in 2001 for money reasons, but they sure ended up with a hell of a durable player.

If the Cubs had gotten Mauer, they probably would've traded him years ago for talent during the rebuild...or just for nobody in particular pre-Theo.

Hendry ate a lot of shit, deservedly so, but he still got Derrecles for Hee Seop Choi and Aramis Ramirez for Bobby Hill and Jose fucking Hernandez.

So, do we think Joe Mauer is a HOF'er?

Break...

I can't believe they gave ROY to someone that only played 104 games.

Feels like they got too cute with Manager of the Year (on the AL side). How does Cora lose after being a rookie manager, winning Division, most games ever for the Red Sox, and then smoking everyone through the playoffs (yes, I know playoffs don't technically count)? Yes, had a good roster, but so did Farrell the year before and he managed to blow it, so big swing in games this year. Instead the A's get a bunch out of a mediocre roster, start a reliever in a one-game play-off, and don't get into the Division round.

I'm sure Cora would prefer the WS ring to the MoY award, but ended up in a distant second, felt like it was a slam dunk. Writers voting on awards seems sillier every time they release these things...

The high payroll managers always get the schnide in MOY awards. I though Giradi should have won it the year he managed to not go below .500. (a million injuries)

Dude, Melvin managed to get just shy of 100 wins with a rotation composed from dryer lint, toothpicks, and some gum he picked off the bottom of his shoe.
He helmed an offense that was top 10 in every major statistical catagory minus batting average, and top five in most, despite being composed of the two Matts, Khris Davis, Jed's Career season, and some Other Guys. Oh, and an offense that had to play 81 games in a poop-filled pitcher's dream with the world's most generous foul territory.

He generated dramatic improvements in the A's defense, including making an ACTUAL SS out of Marcus Semian. (Two Gold Gloves baby!)

He literally had to rebuild his rotation AND bullpen from week to week, and sometimes from DAY to DAY, and he managed to gel a bunch of new additions in the bullpen into a lights out unit.

All the while playing in the afore-mentioned Cavern o' Poop.

I get your a giant, unapologetic homer, but come on! Only a Boston fan would be upset with 5 All-Stars, best record in the league, 2 Gold Gloves, an MVP finalist, a MOA finalist, and oh - an AL Pennant and a World Series win.
Must have MOAR titles....
