While hot streaks aren't really a thing (they're just statistical flukes followed by regression to the mean), choking is a thing. So a player may not "step up to the plate," so to speak, in clutch situations (obviously, he literally would, since it's Baseball), players do choke in big situations. So it's possible a player like Cabrera is better at not choking (not saying it's true, just that it's possibly true).
