MLB Discussion - 2012 Season

My God that was a stressful ordeal...but glad my boys made history today as the first NL team to come back and win after falling 0-2 in the NLDS! NLCS, here we come.

First off, Awesome win for the SF Giants. NLCS Bound Baby. :techman:

Second, The Nationals/Cardinals going to Game 5 is a blessing for the Giants. Both teams have to use their Ace tomorrow, meaning the Giants Ace (Bumgarner) will be ready to go. Now hopefully St. Louis wins and the Giants have Home Field. Of course the Nationals winning would be interesting in that they might not be a great team and they might be regretting the Strasberg decision.

Thirdly, hopefully the A's get it done tonight. Still want a Bay Bridge World Series, minus the Earthquake, of course.

They, um, had the most wins of any team in the major leagues this season.

I think the better word might have been overrated. Granted they have a ton of talent, and impressive win today, but I'm not totally convinced they will take this series.
I'm not sure how a team can win more games than any other team and be overrated.

What is true, and has been as long as modern baseball has been around, is that - while you obviously have to be good throughout the season to at least a certain degree in order to get in to the playoffs - the playoffs themselves are less about who is good (i.e. season W/L) and more about who is hot in the moment.

Bummed that my A's couldn't get it done. :( They seemed on edge during this game, in a way that they didn't last night even though they were losing then too. Perhaps it was simply falling behind against someone SO dominant in Verlander. Still, it was a hell of a run, and next year could be quite interesting.

I wouldn't call Bumgarner the Giants' ace, I'm pretty sure that distinction lies with Mr. Perfect Game Matt Cain.

I don't want to cheer for the Cardinals OR the Giants.

The Giants because of that horrible blown call in 2010 where Posey was out a second base by a mile and was called safe, then went on to score the winning run. Maybe the Braves would have lived to see another day. And the Cardinals because of the Outfield Fly.

This is one hell of an exciting postseason, though.
