MLB Chatter 2008

Any team that panics like the Brew Crew did and fires their manager in early September in the heat of a pennant race doesn't deserve to make it frankly. But then again neither does a team with such a god-awful bullpen as the Mets. Although it pains me to say it, the Phillies are the only team aside from the Cubbies who are worth a post-season berth in the NL right now (the Dodgers being the 'best' of a very bad bunch out west). Still, it makes for a very interesting last day of the season again, given both the NL Wild Card and AL Central are up for grabs.....

The Brewers should have fired Ned Yost long before September. Yes, they were in the middle of a pennant race, but with the team he had, Yost should have had a much better record than he did.

It's going to be tough to decide what to watch today. I don't want to miss my football games, but I have to watch the Twins play. And I'd really like to see the Brewers game as well.

I want the Mets and Brewers to tie and play the tie-breaker game.

Phils have one sometimes-starter playing today. He's Chris Coste, our sometimes-catcher. He's playing first base. I recognize maybe 2 players from the rest of the lineup.

I normally have no rooting interest in the American League, but having the Twins make it is more interesting than the ChiSox, so hopefully that'll happen.

I've got to disagree with you here. With the DBacks out, I'm hoping for an all Chicago series with the Cubs proving they are the superior Chicago squad.

Also, with all this money being spent on new stadiums, it would be fun to see the team with the oldest stadium in the NL win.

I definitely want a Chicago series. Anything with the Cubs will make me happy, but a Chicago series especially will be great.

How about those Angels?!?!

Los Angeles finishes the season with 100 wins, taking the AL West by 21 games.

Of course, this will mean nothing if we can't beat the Red Sox.

I hate them so much.

:scream:

On the last game of the season, Randy Johnson FINALLY gets win #295 (I imagine he will pitch for the D'Backs next year), and the D'Backs (who led the division for over 5/6's of the year) finish the season two stinkin' games behind the Dodgers. :(

Yeah, but I have legitimate reasons to not want the Cubs to win.

I'll be backing the Rays in the post-season. Nobody thought they'd even make .500, let alone win the AL East. Joe Maddon should be a shoe-in for Manager of the Year.

Dammit! Not again!

Stupid Mets. They always seem to blow it when it counts the most. :( *sighs* I love my Mets, anyway...

Wonder what funny stuff Letterman will do to Mr. Met this year! The "suicide" was classic. I wish it was still up on you tube.

The Phillies don't count as a legitimate reason.

Of course, part of the reason the Phillies were able to have success is that they swept the Brewers a few weeks back. Now, of course, this is the Phillies, so who knows what will happen. I'd like to think that it'll be better than last year's playoffs, though.

There is no legitimate reason for not wanting the Cubs to win. :p

I really hope the series is the Cubs and Rays. Fox would hate it, but I think that would be really "interesting" ;)
