MLB Chatter 2008

The Braves are awful this year and the Phils just pwn3d them. This is so leading up to the Mets getting swept really ugly this weekend.

Blowout tonight, lackluster loss tomorrow, followed by a tight game where they lead 3-1 after 7 only to lose in the 9th following another bullpen meltdown.

Just to add insult to injury Hanley Ramirez was taken out of a game yesterday due to a bad shoulder. Watch him miss the Phillies and be ready for the Mets to close the season.

This is one reason why you should never fall asleep at a ball park.

And just for the hell of it. The best video on youtube ever.

Not for nothing, as much as I love the Mets, the Phillies are a much better team up and down. Their lineup is terrifying (they just can't score runs in bunches) and their bulpen is far better. We've also got this problem that our #3 starter and our perennial All-Star closer are out for the season.

Magic Number for the Red Sox down to two for the Wild Card with a nice win over the Blue Jays tonight. I still want the division however.

Yep. Playing the Angels on the road is not a rosy prospect.

What's up with Colon going AWOL? Definitely something going on behind the scenes that we don't know. Oh well, the rotation will be fine without him.

Ya, that was weird wasn't it. I think it's something about him not being happy being relegated to bullpen/spot starter status. What ever, no loss to us really.

Yeah, playing the Angels on the road is not a fun prospect, but they have done it before and it would be a fun series. However, I would like to play the White Sox in the first round, because while they are a playoff team, there is no aspect of that team that scares me in the post season.

The Cubs magic number is down to 1. Could it be possible that hell freezes over this year and they take it all? I'd love to see a Cubs/Angels or Cubs/White Sox series right now.

I certainly hope so! And I'm hoping for either of those series, too.

I fear the Twins' chances are slipping away. Even instant replay is going against them. Now they'll pretty much need to sweep the White Sox in their upcoming series in order to have a chance at the AL Central title.

Went to Tropicana Field last night for the first time. It was a pretty good crowd, but even if they don't get the attendence, the fans are passionate and they should be. It was much better than the fans at AT&T Park, unfortunately, but a good time was had by all. Oh, and I actually got to experiance history live. The first replay overturned. It sure took them a long time though.

This Rays squad is damn impressive. They know the fundamentals, and I actually think they are the Angels out east, or they will be. They aren't greedy like teams like the Yankees are, and it just seems like they play the game the right way. Also, they were honoring the minor leaguers last night, and this is definately a team that is here to stay for the long haul.

Congratulations to those Rays for clinching their first playoff birth ever. Sorry about your Teins, Peg but it seem slike it's the Rays' year.

And what's gotten into the Reds??? :wtf:
They are at best an average team all year and lately they win 2 of 3 from several teams trying to make the NL playoffs?

The Reds are a good team and they are gonna be a problem in 2010. Next year they are gonna be in serious contention for a playoff spot and then in 2010 they are gonna be big.

With guys like Volquez, Cueto, Bruca and Votto ... they might. What I'm not so sure about it whether Baker is the right manager for it.

With those guys and Brandon Phillips, they can make it in spite of Dusty. Just gotta wait for Homer Bailey to get his shit together and everything to gel.

Phillips is definitely a BIG plus. Hairston, Keppinger are also quality talents. They may end up getting refashioned along the lines of the Rays, playing "small ball" and sticking to fundamentals. Their biggest celebrity and power hitter each were traded away in salary moves which is a good sign, considering how much "promise" seems to be wasted year in and year out.

Go Cubbies! Back to Back Central Div. champs. first consecutive playoff appearances in 100 years!! woooot:bolian:

Hell yes.

I do expect the Cubs to go to the Series finally. Though I'd feel more confident if Zambrano hadn't been hit as hard as he was the last time out.
