MLB Chatter 2008

^ Mr. Met has already been downing bottles of cough syrup all week.

They lost to the Nats again! :scream: :(

I watched the last bits of the game with my fingers in my ears going "la la la la la, not happening!"

Truthfully, if I didn't want the drama, I wouldn't be a Mets fan.

QFT.

You forgot the important other half of that. The Phillies won too.

Honestly, this thing probably could go back and forth. I knew for awhile that this would be close.

Well, that was a bloodbath for Kazmir at the Trop.

Now the Sox are tied with the Rays for 1st place. :) Tom Servo, time to adjust that signature! :)

YEP! Done!:techman:

Great night tonight, Kazmir was not himself. Hopefully the momentum continues into tomorrow night. Good job by the whole team.

And Dice-K Matsuzaka 17-2...very nice...very nice.:)

Now you've got to edit the signature again. :(

That was one of Beckett's best starts of the year. Unfortunately it was spoiled by one of Masterson's worst relief appearances of the year.

Oh well, we'll get a do-over tomorrow with Wake pitching and with the Sox still holding a seven-game wild card advantage.

I'll wait till the end of the series...:techman:

Yeah, Beckett was the shit, and while Masterson had a crappy ninth, that was a strange ninth inning...bloop hits, a walk after Pena got four strikes, a hit batter on an 0-2 pitch. While the result was crappy, I think Masterson will be fine.

What an incredible ALCS it would be if Boston played Tampa Bay!!! The girzzled, veteran defending champion vs the upstart kid!

I thought the Brewers were a shoe-in for the Wild Card, but it looks like things are slowly falling apart for them. They need to pitch CC every game!

Yeah things aren't going so hot for them these days.

I heard this on "The Show" on XM 175 recently and I wonder if it has merit. They were saying that since amphetamines and such were banned, if the older teams were hitting a wall and slowing down late in the season. While younger teams with fresher legs are able to stick it out.

Makes sense for the Mets, but the Brewers are mostly young. Or maybe they both just choke in September.

I'm still surprised that they fired Yost, while the team is still in the thick of the playoff race. As of today, they're only 1/2 game out of the wild card, aren't' they?

I think Yost's firing is a little bit surprising, but I don't think it's as shocking as the reporters have made it out be. They blew a substantial lead down the stretch last year, and during the last week of the 2007 season Yost was ejected three times and suspended for one game for some stupidity involving retaliation for hit batsmen against the Cardinals. I think the powers-that-be in Milwaukee were afraid of a similar lack of composure under pressure here at the end.

I saw him get thrown out in Atlanta. It was awesome. We came back late in the game and won and boy was he pissed.

The 2009 Schedule is up, BTW.

June 2-4

Cubs @ Braves.

June 23-25

Yankees @ Braves. I'll be there. :D

June 26-29

Red Sox @ Braves. I'll be there too. :D

Turner Field is going to be selling tickets like crazy.

Well, looks like the Sox are getting the shitty Tim Wakefield tonight with consecutive home runs here in the 2nd and 5 earned runs so far. Not the sort of performance that gets you the AL East lead.

Guess the bullpen will get a workout tonight.

EDIT: Man, that was ugly. Well, at least Bay and Drew should be back in the lineup for the Toronto series...that should make a difference. Wild card lead stands at 7 games. :)

Cool. Where can I find it? I've got to start planning next year's baseball excursion. Most likely I'll be trying to get in the Yankees and Mets next year since that was this year's original plan but had to be postponed. (I've got a lifetime goal of seeing all 30 teams play a home game.) I'll probably try to get to Atlanta since my brother is living fairly close these days. That Cubs series sounds pretty good.

Edit: Never mind on my question of where to find the schedule. I see on MLB's website.
