MLB Chatter 2008

Paul "HGH" Byrd does not impress me. He always seems on the verge of imploding, and he's done it today in the 5th inning.

Looks like the best the Sox can hope for is a split of the double-header behind Colon's pitching tonight. Hopefully there won't be any sweeps by the Rays or Twins so no ground will be lost.

Now see, I've seen the exact opposite. I have been very impressed by him. He is fun to watch pitch, and he THROWS STRIKES. Dice-K could learn a thing from him. He is a number five, but a damn good one at that. He keeps us in games and that is his job. Yes he gets hit once and a while, but that's cause he pitches to contact.

Yeah, but he does lead the league in home runs allowed this year, which was one of his problems earlier tonight. I'm also not so hot on him generally for being a juicer.

And tonight Jacoby Ellsbury pretty much ended all hope for the Jays with a 30ft dribbler up the first base line to give the Red Sox a 7-5 win. And with a Rays loss...(Thanks Yankees)...that means nothing is lost today.

Yeah...seeing the pitcher stumble and fall on his face was rather funny. The Twins did creep up one game in the wild card race, but the Sox are pretty safe with a five game lead.

Colon did fairly well tonight with only two earned runs. It'll be interesting to see how he factors into the rotation for the rest of the month.

Tomorrow should be a nice pitchers' duel.

Well, the Sox take three out of four from Toronto, effectively ending the Jays' playoff hopes. The Sox are now one game behind the Rays for the AL East lead.

The series starting tomorrow at Tampa Bay will be key. Dice-K vs. Kazmir should be fun.

Yep, even though Papelbon had worried me lately. Im sure he will get out of it.

And Big Z threw a no-no tonight for the Cubs! Congrats!

Phillies sweep the Brewers and now share first place in the wild card (and are one game back in the NL East).

I'm thrilled the Mets are 3 up on Philly. But, it's the one-year anniversary of the beginning of the meltdown, so I still have my fingers crossed.

I'm trying so hard to forget about that. I hope they don't blow it this year.

An 8th inning blown save and a 9th inning choke job over the weekend didn't help their cause. Ugh. Atlanta still has their number.

Interesting no-hitter at a neutral site. That's just quirky. If I had a ticket to the regularly scheduled game in Houston that day I woulda been pissed assuming I still had a house left.

Well, that was a bloodbath for Kazmir at the Trop.

Now the Sox are tied with the Rays for 1st place. :) Tom Servo, time to adjust that signature! :)

YEP! Done!:techman:

Great night tonight, Kazmir was not himself. Hopefully the momentum continues into tomorrow night. Good job by the whole team.

And Dice-K Matsuzaka 17-2...very nice...very nice.:)

The Met in Kaz came out last night.

Speaking of Los Mets, the bars and liquor stores love the way they are playing. I`m trying not to panic cause we got #57 but its getting tough. Just cause the new Bond movie comes out this year doesn`t mean they have to play like its 007

^ Mr. Met has already been downing bottles of cough syrup all week.

^ That's the most questionable move in a while. You fire a guy who's lead your team to it's best record in 25 years and is in hot contention for the playoffs.

Yeah, I was surprised by that move, too. They might be slumping now, but that move may have just shot themselves in the foot.

Time to youtube that video of Mr. Met trying to commit suicide and the Philly Phantic stealing his women. God I hate Sept
I hate saying this but last year when they blew it, c ididn't think they deserved to win from June forward. This year, I'm not even to going to be upset if they don't make it because what the hell can you do if your closer goes down in August?

I'm still hoping, but I'm not going to be heartbroken either. Truthfully, if I didn't want the drama, I wouldn't be a Mets fan.
