MLB Chatter 2008

Let me just say...Dustin Pedroia is the man! :) That ball was so far outside, I don't know how he hit it!

14-1 Sox, and they gain a game on the Rays. And yes, Dustin Pedroia continues to be god on earth. A short god, but a god none the less. If he does not win MVP I might cry.

Rally Monkey strikes again!

With a win last night, the Angels magic number is 7.

Sweet!

:techman:

The race for the NL Cy Young is tight while the AL Cy Young is pretty much locked up. In the NL, the people everybody loves to talk about are Webb, Lincecum, and Sabathia while everybody seems to forget about Johan Santana since he doesn`t have the wins.

I`d give it to Santana because he has been the best all around pitcher in my humble view (If Sabathia pitched the whole year in the NL like he has been pitching he would win it hands down.) Santana may not have the wins, because the Mets pen blew them but he has a lower WHIP and OBA then Lincecum and Webb. He also has pitched more innings and has given up the same amount of walks as Webb (21 less then Timmy) His era is 3rd in the league, and lower then Webb and Tim since the All-Star Break.

Santana probably won`t win it because he doesn`t have a sexy number in the win columm but he has great numbers in all the other columms. Since I`m sure Santana won`t win, I think Timmy is gonna get the CY Young. He has been a better pitcher then Webb especially given Webb`s recent bad starts.

Santana definitely has gotten screwed over a couple of times by the Mets bullpen. I've seen games where he didn't do great, but that's usually the exception. Also, I've seen games where the Mets pull him even though he doesn't have much more than 100 pitches and then their pen coughs up the lead. so, as much as I'd hate to say it, you definitely have a quality pitcher there.

Will he get the Cy Young? I doubt it. Like you said, he doesn't have the wins (plus there are a bunch of great pitchers).

Lincecum had a chance to make a good case for Cy Young last night and blew it. That was a wasted opportunity but then again, the Giants are having a pretty wasted year. :(

Dear Atlanta Braves,

Thank You for Mark Kotsay.

Sincerely,

The Boston Red Sox

Honestly, good win today by the Sox, and while I get sick to my stomach saying it, Im glad the Yankees beat the Rays. That 3 Game lead puts the division in reach.

^ And if not, the Sox have padded their wild card lead to five games. It's also nice to see Ellsbury finally ending his slump.

Pedroia is making a strong case for AL MVP.

Why, oh why, did the Twins acquire Eddie Guardado (again) from the Rangers? As he showed tonight, there was a good reason they got rid of him in the first place.

It's looking more and more probable that the AL wild card will come out of the East- I can only hope that the White Sox tank even worse than the Twins down the stretch.

The Phillies are making me sad again. I don't care if the Nats are 'hot' right now! Beat them! :(

Is it time to start the Cubs suicide watch, yet?

It's September. It's always time to start it, especially with the cubs. ;)
I was thinking primarily of Zambrano's arm injury. The MRI I think is today.

I just read this article on the Boston Globe website...all I can say is what a great story, and great generosity on the part of many different people.

Damn....... I'm all out of Kleenex.

Just wanted to bring up how the Mets swept the red hot Brewers over the weekend and beat them with 3 leftys pitching. Ever since Jerry took over we have had the best record in the Majors and I can`t wait till Philly comes to Shea over the weekend. Its gonna be a great weekend to be a Met fan.
