MLB Chatter 2008

I think the Brewers are going to work CC to death because now they're going after the division lead since it looks like they're a done deal with the Wild Card.

I am still so very surprised that the Rays are still doing well even though Longoria and Crawford are out. I think we can put a fork in the Yankees (Thank god; finally) and this devision is Tampa Bay's to lose. They've had an amazing season and I am firmly on their bandwagon. It's not like the A's or Giants are going anywhere anytime soon. :(

Dear Angels,

WTF? Honestly, you come into Fenway and kick the living shit out of my Sox, and I think, well its the Angels, and they will beat up the other teams in the division, cause they are that good.

Then they go to Tampa and play like crap. I mean three runs on ONE freaking single in the eighth...come on.

Atleast the Sox won, Houdini Matsuzaka at it again.

Please win tomorrow Angels.

Seriously. And could somebody beat the ChiSox and Twins too? ;)

My Spidey sense is telling me the Sox will lose tomorrow with Buchholz on the mound. It's what he does.

And Byrd bombs with the Sox. They should have left Mr. HGH at the Cleveland fire sale.

I would not say Byrd bombed with the Sox, not at all. Overall, I thought he was pretty good. He gave them 7.1 decent innings, and kept them in the game, which is all they want from a Number five. Looking around the league, he is one of the better number 5 starters out there. I mean, they were against Halladay, so that was gonna be a shitty game to begin with, but Byrd was not the problem that night.

So I think the Braves are cursed. Their inability to win one run games is just awful. The bullpen needs a complete overhaul for next year. I think they need to go ahead and start brining up different prospects to play now considering they're way out of it for this year.

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico - A Puerto Rican man has been granted his wish to remain standing — even in death. A funeral home used a special embalming treatment to keep the corpse of 24-year-old Angel Pantoja Medina standing upright for his three-day wake.

Dressed in a Yankees baseball cap and sunglasses, Pantoja was mourned by relatives while propped upright in his mother's living room.

Hey - this fan looks like he belongs on the Yankees' team. The way they're playing who'd know the difference?

^ Probably pitches better than Clay Buchholz these days. Clay--I like the guy, but he seems to have lost another game and just plain sucks this season. He hasn't won a start since early March. C'mon, Tito, get Colon or even a well-trained monkey out there. Buchholz is done with the majors for a while.

With the Sox now playing with a half-game wild card lead, a few more pitching performances like this and the Sox won't make the post-season.

Since there are a ton of Red Sox fans here, does anybody know who the Sox drafted with the Mets picks when the Mets signed Pedro?

Ironically Enough, I think it was Clay Buchholz and Jacoby Ellsbury.

Yeah, I have had enough of the Buchholz experiment this season. Thank god for the Angels.

Give Bucky time, at least he threw a no-hitter and he has stuff. Maybe he might become the next Mike Pelfrey.

Oh I agree, I think Buch will become a fine MLB pitcher one day, but this is not the time or place to have him trying it out. If they were up in the division by 11 games, I would say sure, let the kid have at it. But right now, almost every game is a must win, and they need guys out there that can keep the team in the game, and not burn out the bullpen.

EDIT: Well it seems the boy was not only shipped back down to AAA, they shipped him back to AA Portland.

I can deal with a rotation of Lester, Beckett, Matsuzaka, Wakefield, and Bryd for the rest of the year.

Today was a good day in the Majors. The Mets swept the Braves, the Phillies lost to the horrible Nats and just to top everything off, the Yanks got prison raped by the Jays over in Canada. I just really love this game and I can`t wait for Johan to throw another gem tommorow at Big Shea against Roy Oswalt and the Astros. They may have beaten us in Houston but we will show them whos boss this weekend.

Byrd's a juicer in my book, but if he can get some HGH-free wins, I'll deal. I figure the Sox will keep him as a hired gun until the end of the season and cut him loose. Is Colon done for the year? He's been rehabbing for a very long time now.

The Yanks look like they're no longer a threat. Fingers crossed that the Halos beat the Twins in extras to give the Sox some more wild card breathing room.

EDIT: Twins win, so the Sox are now tied for the wild card. Buchholz's losses could come back to haunt the Sox if the team doesn't start a winning streak tomorrow.

Actually, Colon threw 4 no hit innings in AAA tonight, and he looked much better according the those that saw him. I would expect him to be back soon.

I'm thrilled that the Twins were able to pull off an extra inning game against LA. The Angels are the top team, so if they can even get a split, I'll be happy. It's going to be a long road trip for the Twins- 14 away games in 15 days.

I can't believe Hunter missed that ball!

The Angels are in a bit of a swoon here. Hopefully they'll get back on track soon.

Looks like adding Dunn has given the Dbacks some spark in the lineup. And he's playing well too. He's something like .350 with a ridiculous number of walks in the last two weeks.

The Halos are getting shellacked!

Sox win today despite a shaky outing from Byrd but gain no ground with the Rays and Twins winning. I'm optimistic of the Sox's chances with Wakefield, Beckett, and Colon due back soon--unless Drew winds up on the DL for a big chunk of September.
