MLB Chatter 2008

Yankees now have a little less competition going into the end of the season! Hopefully Jason Bay won't burn us! :(

I was hoping the Red Sox would get another mid-reliever in the trade (they need one), especially with Brandon Moss leaving. I'm quite happy to see Craig Hansen and his 5.58 ERA go, as he was shaping up to be this season's Eric Gagne.

Hopefully getting Manny and his attention-whoring out of the clubhouse will help rebuild team cohesion.

What is so different between last season and this? Has Manny's behavior been that much more detrimental this season? I ask just because there doesn't seem to be that much difference in the rosters, and yet last season they won the championship.

It's mainly because of his alleged slacking off during the two series against the Angels and the Yankees. Now that he's on a team with a very good shot of winning the division, such as it is, I don't think he'll be an issue.

The slacking has happened before and they have dealt with it. THe physical altercations with teammates and other members of the staff was new however, and seriously disturbing. That, coupled with his recent remarks about the front office, spelled his ticket of out town.

Well he was on a team before that had a very good shot of winning the division, and he still acted like a two year old who wanted a lolly pop.

They could have shipped him to the Yankees. He would have worked great with Sidney Ponson.

I think the Dodgers have a better shot of taking the NL West than the Red Sox do with the AL East. That's mainly due to there being only one other team in contention in the NLW that's only clawing it's way to the lead at this point. Besides, now that Manny has what he wants, he's not going to stir up trouble in LA. I've heard a few remarks suggesting that he'll clash with Jeff Kent, but Jeff Kent clashed with another "noteworthy" left fielder in his career and yet they managed to get to the World Series, something the Dodgers haven't done in just shy of twenty years.

Heck after this year, I want to see Manny in a White Sox uniform, just so we can see the weekly Guillen/ Manny show.:lol:

Oh man, with Manny going to the Dodgers......well adios Giants. Although many could argue that the Giants were long gone already....but this really puts a nail in the coffin for the next couple of seasons.

This season, definitely. I can only hope they do something about Zito, who's contract is really handcuffing the Giants both in terms of performance and finances. On the other hand, Manny could run off to whoever drives the biggest dump truck full of money to his doorstep no matter how well the Dodgers do this season.

It was adios Giants before Manny went to LA, unfortunately. There was never a chance the Giants were going to win the devision, and Sabean doing nothing at the trade deadline was not a shock but more of a  .

As for that trade, that was shocking. I expected him to go to Florida or Tampa and it didn't happen. Watch out Arizona because the Dodgers made a statement and they were the only team in the west to do so. I was surprised nothing happened with the Fuentes deal.

Agreed on the chances of the Didgers taking the NL West being better than Boston's in the AL East.

Who do you think is "clawing" their way to the lead in the NLW?

Did anyone else here see the tag that was put on Ethier in the bottom of the eigth?

Agreed about the Dodgers, but watch out for the Rockies. Yes they are 8 games back, but they've been making a run lately and I can see them up there at the end of the season. Actually, I see Arizona falling back as the season gets into the home stretch but we will see.

Dear New York Yankees,

You are cordially invited to suck it.

Sincerely,

The Los Angeles Angels
