MLB Chatter 2008

Hopefully the Sox can ride this momentum into what will be a tough series hosting the Halos.

Dice K tonight. He's been on fire! Hopefully we can find a way to score some runs.

Or not. Dice K's stats are good only because he walks so many people--and that came back to burn him tonight. The bullpen will probably proceed to widen LA's lead.

At least it's looking like the Sox won't lose any more ground tonight in the AL East.

Well he only had two walks tonight. I think he just got hit around by a good club. It happens unfortunately, but Im sure he will bounce back.

That was a painful game to watch.

I'm just glad it's over.

Thank God for Torii Hunter.

Amen to that, and not just because Torii's on my fantasy team(s).

One of the few times in my area where everyone was rooting against Chicago teams: My Twinkies gained ground, but the Brewers (and my fantasy closer) blew it. Not gonna get that Twins/Brewers World Series that way...

And as if the Angels weren't good enough, they now get Mark Texiera... wonderful.

This was a bit of a surprise, coming home to read this.

I really liked Kotchman, and hope he succeeds with his new team.

We could sure use another bat. Hopefully this pans out.

All I can do tonight is tip my cap to John Lackey....8.1 no hit innings. It was a 6-0 game, so by the ninth I wanted to see it happen. Unfortunatley it didn't, but it still does not discount what he did tonight.

Good Job Man!:techman:

It should be against the rules to get Mark Texiera, and a no hitter in the same day. You guys can't have everything.

A really nice game from Lackey tonight.

Complete game, 2 hits. It was of course disappointing to see the no-hitter and the shut-out go away, but yes that was a great performance.

Angels are 7-1 against the Red Sox this year.

What ever crutch you guys had against us, it seems to have gone. Hopefully you can still kick the Yankee's ass.

I hope to meet you guys in the playoffs, it should be a very competitive series.

We could be 20-0 against Boston, and I still wouldn't want to see them in the playoffs....

Not a surprising outcome given Buchholz's numbers. Frankly, I think he should be getting more practice in the minors (maybe they'll move him there when Colon's back in fighting form). His ERA is pretty terrible for an AL starter and his consistency is poor.

Hopefully Beckett can get the job done tomorrow.

Fortunately for us, the Orioles have been thrashing the Yankees pretty soundly this week.

Perhaps, but look at the possibilities with Texeira and Guerroro back-to-back.

Ouch!

Definitely makes the Angels the favorites at the moment. Long-term, could screw them over if Texiera doesn't resign with them (and as a Boras client, could be iffy). This is basically the same deal the Red Sox turned down (Texiera for Youk and Hansen). Great for this year, but at the end, either no 1B, or gotta pay him through the nose. And you lose the 1B you have, who is cost-controlled for another 2-3 years...

Maybe, but his numbers in the minors were very good before returning to the Red Sox.

Well, he has thrown the ball well in many of his starts, he just makes too many mistakes. At the risk of sounding like Joe Morgan...he needs to be more consistent.

The Yanks pick up Pudge from the Tigers for Kyle Farnsworth. A strange trade I think. I mean the Yankees needed at catcher, but to give up Farnsworth, someone who was throwing well for them, seems odd.

JKTim's ears are burning. Brace yourself. ;)

Damn, Pudge went to the Evil Empire. :(
