Has this ever happened before? David Freese declined an invitation to join the Cardinals Hall of Fame. Jose Oquendo and Max Lanier will be inducted this August.

Seems like the most lax team hall of fame in all sports.

Freese is a really private guy, and apparently he went through depression and alcoholism during his playing career and he doesn't want to be in the spotlight like that. He lives in St. Louis so he still does occasional appearances.
