Per Jed Hoyer, 3-4 Cubs players will not be with the team when they go to Toronto next week.

Can't wait to see who the anti-vax morons are. I'd bet Smyly and Gomes are on the list.

This SNY kid-caster doing the Rockies/Mets game is way better than the AppleTV+ crew

Edit: There are POSSUM cages in the broadcast booth at the Oakland Coliseum. :guffaw:

Breaking news here in Seattle. Rookie Julio Rodriguez has been given a 14 year, $210 million dollar contract extension, that, with incentives, could reach $450 million.

This has been happening a lot lately, where teams lock in their players who have early success. If this kind of thing was going on years ago, would the Tigers have given Matt Nokes a huge deal? Would the Yankees have given Kevin Maas a huge deal? Would the Twins have given Marty Cordova a huge deal?

I suppose it's a risk-reward thing because if you don't pay them and they continue to be great, you could have an Aaron Judge situation. But that's still an awful lot of money to gamble with if they end up tanking.

Playing the long game. Eh, I'm skeptical with these long year contracts. Julio has been great but yikes that's a long time.

Long time, but only $15 million AAV. That's probably a good deal for Seattle in the long run, and that won't be an albatross of a contract to trade.

Apparently the deal only runs through 2028, and then there are club and player options.

I have no doubt that many disagree with me :)

Eric Hosmer, Josh Hamilton, Carl Crawford, Jason Heyward, Chris Davis, Miguel Cabrera, David Price, Patrick Corbin...

Rusney Castillo is a Cuban OF who defected. The Red Sox gave him a seven-year, $72.5 million contract. He only played 99 games in the majors.

Sheldon Neuse retired all five Yankees batters he faced Thursday. Also, he's an infielder.
