Adam Eaton says it's a good thing that minor league players are exploited, so I guess it is also ok if owners collude to keep salaries down, I mean it's for the betterment of everybody right? ;)

Just fucking great. Cole Hamels left the Cubs game after 1 inning with a "left side" injury.

This on top of Kyle Hendricks still being out.

We have Adbert Alzolay looking good, but this almost guarantees another start by Shitwood, or Montgomery, who's given up 5 so far in relief of Hamels.

First London Series game is only half over, and it's already 17-6...

First time in history that Yankees and Redsox have both scored six runs in the first inning...no other MLB games have done that since '89

They called up Maples and Wick from AAA, so the rotation looks like ... what, Lester, Darvish, Chatwood, Q and one of Alzolay / Montgomery? :barf:

Alzolay has had 2 good outings, I think he'll be really good. Chatwood sucks as a starter, no other way about it. Montgomery hasn't been great as a starter either.

Or possibly an overdose or suicide... :(

Police say "no foul play is suspected"

Those darker thoughts crossed my mind, but this seems more like a Darryl Kile situation to me than anything. Skaggs was a devoted family man and just got married last year, so an OD just seems unlikely.

I imagine Pujols is a wreck, though; this is the second pitcher who's died when he's been a teammate.

Whatever the case turns out to be, yeah. This is shitty. I always liked him, and was glad he came back to the Angels.

Happy Bobby Bonilla payday. Only 16 more years left.

Plenty of overdoses have spouses, children, and family. Not in any way a limiter. Some slowly get into it, or were clean and backslide, some unlucky bastards OD their first time trying something. Lost a few family members to it, it’s ugly not matter what, but neither of them was the ‘on the street crackhead’. They had jobs, one had a couple young kids, etc.

At that age, and physical condition, drugs was my first guess. See what happens, undiagnosed conditions can obviously happen without warning, but a tragedy either way. Rumor out there, but unsubstantiated and always the ugly stuff they want to rush to get out there...

An autopsy on Tyler Skaggs was completed today, but the ME reported that toxicology reports won't be complete until October and a preliminary finding of cause of death is going to be withheld until the full reports are in, per the family's request. (Contrary to what people might think from TV cop shows like Law & Order or Chicago PD, tox screen results generally take weeks to months to come in.)

Edit: And I know everyone's thoughts might go to "suicide or drugs" because the family is withholding the results, but there are many situations (HIPAA / privacy concerns alone) where this is legitimate. It also might be necessary as recommended by their lawyer to ensure proper payout of life insurance. It could be as simple as an un-diagnosed heart condition--I've been there, almost died of one. Could be team-prescribed meds with a bad interaction. No way to know yet.

"No foul play is suspected" means simply there is no active homicide investigation. Doesn't preclude a possible OD or suicide. But it's most likely a medical episode. Just means no homicide is obvious.

Francisco Lindor is an All Star, while Gleyber Torres and Xander Bogaerts are not. This is why I haven’t watched an MLB All Star Game in years.

I could go on a rant about all star games in any sport. One of the worst things is each team needs to be represented. You will probably have more people watch if you pick true all stars and those who have earned a spot instead of forcing an all star from each team.
