Miscast roles?

I thought that Harold was a bad choice for Sulu, since Korean-Americans are not Japanese.

I also disagree with the casting of Zachary Quinto since I disapprove with some of his lifestyle choices.

Other than that, I think the casting was pretty good. Winona Ryder might have been better as Kirk's mother, since the actress who played her wasn't that good.

Nowadays, people travel. And have babies. My girlfriend is half Indonesian. I'm a quarter Swedish and a quarter Belgian. And lots of other people have foreign or mixed heritages as well. And it's logical to assume this mixing will continue in the future, fortunately. Thus someone with a bit of Korean blood could very well be Japanese. So I don't see why Sulu would be the wrong person for the job on the basis of his exterior appearance.

On another note: I don't see what Quinto's lifestyle choices have to do with his acting abilities. Or why you should have an opinion on them at all. They're his lifestyle choices, not yours. This would mean that either you think you're Quinto (who I can assure you, you're not!), or you think that people have the right to judge other people on their personal choices, which is completely and utterly absurd.

Now now, tolerance please.

From what I've read, Quinto is either gay, bisexual or asexual. As long as he keeps whatever he is to himself, I don't have too much of a problem with him, aside from the fact I don't think he can act.

Anyway, the fact that dear old George had fairly obviously been taking it up the tradesman's entrance most/if not all of his life long before he ever publicly came out, presumably never stopped you from watching TOS.

Same applies to Paul Winfield, Merritt Butrick, and any other gay actor who's ever been in Trek, and I would think there are many we don't know about.

His exterior appearance isn't that of someone of Japanese ancestry. That is why I do not think he was the right person for the role.

So I'm not allowed to disapprove of Charles Manson's personal choices?

I haven't watched a single TOS episode or film since I found out.
