So, I have really struggled to come up with a theme for this contest. Everything I did end up thinking of it turns out was already on the list. So after a bit of a wikiwalk to try to come up with something, I eventually decided to try this. It may end up being a flop, but we’ll see what happens.
Perhaps you’ve heard of the so-called “Mandela Effect”? It is a term used to describe a false memory shared by a number of people. These false memories can be related to any number of things, such as events, movies, logos, etc. So that is the theme for our contest this week. Your entry should depict something that is typically considered to have a collective false memory associated with it.
The usual avatar contest rules apply: maximum size of 200 x 200 pixels and 1 MB, and must be SFW. I am making a special allowance for this one: since many of these false memories are related to movies and TV shows, for this contest, media images will be allowed. You are of course free to represent entertainment-related false memories without using media images (posters, behind-the-scenes shots, etc), but if you do choose to use a media image, it should be restricted to the scene that the false memory is related to. Each entrant may enter up to two avatars. Contest will be open for about a week.
Please note, you do not have to *have* the false memory you enter, nor do you have to believe in any of the wilder claims about the Mandela Effect in order to participate.
As an example, here is my first entry:
Rich Uncle Pennybags, AKA Monopoly Man. Many people remember him as being drawn wearing a monocle, but that has never been the case.
Have fun!
