Precisely so. We would like to believe that such savagery is beyond humanity now, but we are not so far removed from such atrocities in our own species.

If the Mirror Universe is disturbing how much more so is humanity's own history?

I read a lot of true crime, serial killer history and general news horrors so I WISH I could believe that such savagery is beyond humanity now. Shows like Star Trek give me a more optimistic point of view that I often don't have in real life.

I have optimism too. I just don't need Trek or any other fictional show for it.
