Mirror says New Console Room for Smith

Change is good, itll do Trek good, its done BSG good and a little change wont hurt.

Personally, ive always liked the Movie tardis. I like this animation for Shada, it does the design justice. I also liked the incorporation of the roundels in the struts, very subtle, but the roundels are there.

However, i do like the Shalka tardis from the Richard E. Grant stories online. The staircase spiralling around the console area is a nice and different touch. Still has a steam-punked console and feel to it, but i like the simplicity and effectiveness of the design.

something like the Shalka tardis with elements of the movie would be cool, but i doubt we'll get anything like that. It will change but not drastically.
If its a drastic change it may put a few young fans off a bit.

I never saw the one with Richard E Grant before. I quite like the design, very simple as you say and yet appealing. It gives a better impression of how large the ship is.

As for kids and drastic changes... I think it'd be a good thing. Another playset to sell. I was quite surprised the incident with the screwdriver didn't result in a new design in Smith & Jones. Even more foolish as now there is the sonic and screwdrivers, sonic pen, sonic lipstick and River Song's version.

I like it as well, also have the stair case, makes it easy to show a character going to another part of the TARDIS without a) a door or b) showing them in another part of the TARDIS.

the console itself is quite similar to the new series one as well

Looks like some-one nicked a warp core from a Starship and stuck in on the console.

Any images where the console it's self isn't in shadow?

I really liked the staircase in the Shalka console room-- gives the immediate impression that the TARDIS interior extends in every direction, not just horizontally.

I just want a console that looks a bit more modern. Yes, I know 'modern' gets dated fast, but jeez, anything would be an improvement over the current 'kludged together from bits we found in a scrapyard'. look.

And while we're at it, how about a reverse Time Crash. I've just been thinking how cool it would've been if Ten had transported into Fives console room instead.

That's one of my favorite aspects of the TARDIS control room right now. It tells you that the Doctor's been at this a while, and that he hasn't had the ability to really do a proper job of fixing anything. And, really, how could he? Before the Time War, he was a renegade on the run from the Time Lords, and now, Gallifrey is gone. I don't know how he could really do a proper repair job on the TARDIS and have it look "modern" anymore.

Yeah. Richard E. Grant was almost officially named as the Ninth Doctor in online episodes until the NuWho series was granted the green light. Then it went to Chris Eccleston.

Grant was also, along with Hugh Grant and Alan Davies considered for the Shalka role.

Anyway, heres a link with the gallery and some info on Shalka. Theres not a lot of pics but its all i could find. There are no clearer pics of the interior, its the best we got. :(

He could always go to Logopolis to get it fixed ;)

While I wish it wasn't quite so cobbled togeather, on the whole I agree.

I do wonder though, I know the TARDIS is supposed to be the last TARDIS out there...but I do wonder what happened to the Masters...

Well, the Master had been captured by the Daleks prior to the TV movie, right? So the Daleks probably destroyed his TARDIS when they put him on trial (or used it to reverse-engineer those anti-TARDIS weapons they later used during the Time War). I doubt that the Time Lords would have given the Master his own TARDIS during the war, dangerous bugger that he is. And the Master probably wanted to make sure he was safe at the End of the Universe, which to me implies that it was a one-way trip so as to avoid any time travelers from the relative past noticing that there was a time capsule in the Year 100 Trillion.

But that's just my guessing.
