That would be one hell of trick:Omega Glory's planet was inhabited by the descendants of earlier Cold War space travelers.
KIRK: Then we can leave any time we want to. Tracey is of the opinion these immunising agents can become a fountain of youth. There are people here over a thousand years old, Bones.

I heard the idea was to have the one episode lead to the other, but not that there was talk of doing it semi-serialized. What's your source for that assertion?Back in the day, there was still some talk about doing TOS in a semi-serialized manner: the time travel of "Naked Time" might have dovetailed directly into "Tomorrow is Yesterday" and so forth.

The thing is, the “duplicate Earth” gimmick is completely unnecessary to the story; in fact, it’s never mentioned again after the pre-credit teaser. It was just a cheap hook to keep viewers tuned in by ending the teaser on a “WTF??” note.I always liked "Miri" - the "another Earth" thing was just one of those "Gosh, wow, cool!" little skiffy frissons; I was already buying the notion of a spaceship full of Navy boys zipping around the cosmos at FTL speeds, after all.

So, in other words, there was not, in fact, "talk about doing TOS in a semi-serialized manner".That'll be the day when I make an "assertion" about the backstage goings and comings of Star Trek; I really know zip about them. But "episode leading to another" is what I meant by "semi-serialized", as opposed to actually serialized through entire seasons.
