Mira Furlan R.I.P

Her story was so inspirational... this is such a heartbreaking loss.

My deepest sympathies to her loved ones.

An amusing story about Mira:

Back in mid-summer of 1995, I went to Origins to meet Mira and get her autograph on a CD she had released. I had my two boys ages 8 and 4 in tow. Since it was over the American 4th of July celebration, we were also on our way to watch fireworks and so wore new 4th of July shirts my wife had made for us. When we reached Mira's table, with that inimitable smile she commented on our matching shirts. Both boys piped up that "our Mom made them for us!" and just chattered on with her like they had just seen their favorite aunt. Mira just beamed and giggled and chattered back with them. I simply stood back and let them, all while beaming and laughing myself inside.

Starstuff indeed.

This is really sad.

R.I.P., ambassador.

Counting the cast of The Gathering, we're sadly down to the following cast members who were with the series from its inception:
* Tamilyn Tomita (Laurel Takashima)
* Patricia Tallman (Lyta Alexander)
* Jeffrey Willerth (Kosh suit actor)
* Ardwight Chamberlain (Kosh voice actor)
* Claudia Christian (Susan Ivanova)
* Andrea Thompson (Talia Winters)
* Bill Mumy (Lennier)
* Caitlyn Brown (Na'Toth)
* Peter Jurasik (Londo Mollari)

What's spookiest for me is that Bill Mumy, Peter Jurasik, and (mentioned in a later post) Bruce Boxleitner are the only male actors whose faces were seen that are still kicking (not including guest stars).

I couldn't agree more, 65 is way too young to die for anyone. I am 60 and I'd hate to think that the grim reaper is only less than five years away...

I hear you. I'll be 58 this year and I'm sure you feel the same in that mentally, I still feel pretty much like I did in my mid-thirties, physically at times though it's a whole other issue.:crazy:

I am sad to hear about this. A lot of the male actors have passed away. From what i know, she is the first female actor in the tv series to pass away.

She as Delenn was a wise and caring character who pushed for the end of the Earth-Minbari war.

May she rest in peace.

This was certainly an unpleasant surprise. And she was still so very young (I'm another one of those old timers who's hovering around the the 60 mark). She had such charisma and screen presence, and she did everything with that sparkle in her eye. In addition to being a great talent, she was living proof that one need not be hardened by hardship. RIP, Mira Furlan.

Babylon 5 actors tragically don't make for old bones but this is still pretty shocking and as said before (like Carrie Fisher, Liz Sladen, and Tanya Roberts) Mira still had potentially many, many more years to go.

RIP

It still feels really tragic a sizable chunk of B5 cast struggled to make it past their 50s/early 60s ( Stephen Furst contended with obesity and diabetes, Andreas Katsulas was a heavy chain smoker, Michael O'Hare privately struggled with serious mental illness, Jeff Conaway was a child abuse survivor who took on addiction, and Jerry Doyle was an alcoholic who suffered an assault).

Richard Biggs' death was the most leftfield and terrifying, IMO, allegedly a sudden onset cardiac arrest or/and aortic rupture when still very young.

Bill Mumy and Peter Jurasik must be shitting their pants now.

Have been keeping away from news and the internet lately and only just heard.

So sad to hear. Delens character arc from shy novice to moral leader thoughout the traumatic times that the series was set in was so brilliantly portrayed by Mira.

This is incorrect.

Season 2 Series Regular Robert Rusler (Warren Keffer) and Season 3 and 4 Series Regular Jason Carter (Marcus Cole) are also still alive.

Didn't know about Robert Rusler, as I didn't really get into the show until season three. And I forgot about Marcus. Stupid of me.

And the Lt. Corwin/ Joshua Cox, he's still around. Though more of a side character.

And if we're going that route for the second of the Secondary/Thirdary characters still kicking

Morden,
Neroon,
Bester,
Na'Toth (Both)
Lockley
Byron, ( He was barely in his 20's when it aired! .. and Pat Tallman is 19 years older.. Yikes! )

Hmm.. I think thats it on non-one off characters.
