Minor nitpick to Beverly Crusher's character

BlackFire3

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
Not really a nitpick, more of me recognizing a dropped plot-point. I was watching someone's review of the "Encounter at Farpoint" episode when they talked briefly about the scene where Dr. Crusher was shopping. She purchased a bolt of fabric and.... that was the last it was ever seen. For the entire series, and subsequent movies, Beverly hasn't shown any interest in fabric making. And furthermore, I don't recall seeing her wearing anything with that fabric pattern. So, it could be said that it is lore that Beverly Crusher has had an unused bolt of fabric just sitting in her quarters for the entire series. And at least the first movie.

Obviously, it was just a dropped character point for her, but, one I noticed as a weird point.

It could have been used in the creation of a dancing outfit; alternatively, it was (eventually) repurposed for handmade acting costumes.

No that's totally fair. It's like in the Smallville pilot where Clark brings his skateboard to school. Never uses it. Never see it again. The Wraith with their weird hallucination powers in Stargate Atlantis pilot.

I like to think it eventually got blown up on board the Eleos XII. It was that piece of fabric she always hoped to find use for one day.

Like how guys keep a drawer of old cables or a nice looking chunk of wood for decades. The right day could be tomorrow, you never know.

I don’t think it means anything more than “character goes shopping at an alien bazaar.” A bolt of fabric was a probably an easy prop get. Could just as easily been a vase or a rug.

I'm still distraught the fact that the Bolt of Fabric and Conspiracy Aliens were never followed up again. And Worf had a son that I don't think he ever bothered about again.

Maybe some of it ended up here mind you.

At the building I used to work in, there was an entire file cabinet filled with nothing but computer power cables. You just never know...
