Microsoft Fixes October Update For 10, Keeps 1809 Version Number?

Your CPU could be overheating, and causing the fans to spin up louder. When that happens it could be creating a voltage issue, and your power supply just can't handle it. Speakers are very sensitive to electrical disruption. When was the last time you opened up the laptop chassis?
I certainly hope that's not it, as that would cost money I don't have. Haven't, apart from checking my battery. That kind of thing (meaning looking completely under my laptop's hood), I take my laptop in for. So it'll have to be another thing I save up for to get fixed. Sadly, I'm not all that electronically inclined. Wish I was though.

On a side note, could it be fan related? I know that I have to take my laptop in to be dusted again. I try do so at least once a year. I'd rather have it be that, than to have it be something expensive.

Only once a year? Ouch. Still, speakers are very voltage sensitive. All it takes is a hot CPU, or a high velocity fan to cause buzzing. It's also possible your RAM isn't seated like it should be, and it's causing interference at high temperatures. There's a myriad number of things it could be.

That said, if you can afford it (and I completely understand not being able to do so), there's a very nice refurbished laptop on Newegg for $80:

AMD E1-1500 1.48 Ghz Processor
4 GB RAM
320 GB Hard Drive
12" Display
Windows 10 Home (64 Bit)

For $100, you can step up to this Lenovo Thinkpad:
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA5HA4NV4104

  • Intel i5 M520 2.4Ghz Processor
  • 4 GB RAM (up to 8 GB capacity)
  • 320 GB SATA HDD
  • 14" Display
  • Windows 10 Pro (64 Bit)
They're both in Grade B condition, which is practically brand new.

Yea, I'd take it in for more than that, but it comes down to money (generally do my best to put money aside for that kind of thing). Ah.

Cool. Thanks for the suggestions.

Just checked the RAM via Speccy and this is what showed up.

RAM
Memory slots
Total memory slots 2
Used memory slots 2
Free memory slots 0
Memory
Type DDR3
Size 4096 MBytes
DRAM Frequency 674.6 MHz
CAS# Latency (CL) 9 clocks
RAS# to CAS# Delay (tRCD) 9 clocks
RAS# Precharge (tRP) 9 clocks
Cycle Time (tRAS) 24 clocks
Bank Cycle Time (tRC) 33 clocks
Physical Memory
Memory Usage 57 %
Total Physical 3.48 GB
Available Physical 1.47 GB
Total Virtual 6.10 GB
Available Virtual 3.43 GB

The DRAM frequency seems to be running higher than I'd like.

Your power supply mention just made me remember something. My old one just died recently... so maybe it might be what you mentioned. I got a new one and it seems to work ok, but I'll have the socket for it checked along side the cpu and the fan and what not on my laptop when I can take it in.

Just ran a Perfmon test and it did ok.

Cooling Configured Fail Count 0 0 Cooling devices.

Port Device Configured Fail Count 40 0 Port devices.
Port Device Status Fail Count 40 0 Port devices.
Power Device Configured Fail Count 1 0 Power devices.

What it did fail on, seems to be driver related.

So I'm hoping that getting the fan cleaned out and stuff checked will help things.
