Child Molester or not, I can think of many many people FAR more DESERVING of the World stopping than Michael Jackson.

I don't know anything about this congressman, but I really wish that a lot more people were saying what he's saying.

If MJ went to court every aspect of his life -more so than already was- would've been torn into by the media. And the plantiffs would've had the benifit of being able to say pretty much anything they want happened.

Sometimes it's "just easier" to settle it while admiting no wrong doing. (Granted, though, MJ should've made the settlement secret.)

Of course it's possible for someone who isn't a child molester to pay blackmail rather than have the accusation made. There are people who will believe the accustion, just because. I repeat, the prosecution in the actual trial was thoroughly discredited. The prosecution had so little case that it's hard to believe that it had anything but malicious motives. If Jackson had been a white lacrosse team, they would have been the ones in trouble.

But there are still people in this thread making fools of themselves by taking it seriously. Some people believe where there's smoke, there's fire. The truth is that where there's smoke, there may be someone throwing up a smoke screen. You can't believe everything you hear and read. And if you don't care to weigh the evidence as best you can find it, you should have the good sense to keep your mouth shut. Being in the special world of people who live by old sayings, remember: Better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool, than to open it and prove otherwise.

There are people who make false confessions because they fear dishonest prosecution tactics; reprisals against family members; numerous false or trivial charges that damage the ability to mount a legal defense; they don't have competent legal defense; they are overcharged with some offense carrying a death sentence so they too much to lose, and because they are afraid jurors might be prejudiced against them.

Oops, my bad then. I was actually referring to the Beeb's version of CNN, which I've usually found does not do coverage like that.

The BBC's version of CNN, if you mean their 24 hour a day news channel, is BBC News (no 24, I didn't realise they'd dropped that from the name) - at least here in the UK.

There's also BBC World News which I suspect you are referring to but, curiously, we don't get that in the UK.

I was referring to BBC World News, which we do get in Canada. As I said before, I'll bet that this coverage was limited to the appropriate part of the news, and not all over it, knowing BBC World News.
