Michael Dorn to Guest Star on ST: Discovery

I wouldn't have said anything at all if I signed an NDA.
If was going to break it wouldn't have said guessed.

Exactly. When I sign an NDA, I maintain strict radio silence. I don't tempt fate by teasing fans on the internet. (Hell, sometimes I don't even tell my friends and family what I'm working on until it's officially announced.)

... the fuck?

I'm kind of confused as to ow this fits together with the klingon re-design we saw from the one picture that was leaked online.

What do you mean? Klingons have always looked like that...

That's Discovery's homage to Gene Roddenberry, I guess.

Or are there now TWO ancestors of Worf, both played by Michael Dorn, running around at the same time of the Trek universe?;)

Why wouldn't there be a several ancestors? How many parents / siblings / cousins / aunts / uncles / etc... do you have right now? I would doubt he'd be Col. Worf (or Private Worf, since it's 40 years before TUC), given that Dorn himself is 26 years older.

Great news!

With this, now Dorn ties Frakes' record in appearing in the most series as the same character or relative.

Hmmm...looks like Michael Dorn isn't appearing on Discovery.

TrekMovie reached out to Mr. Dorn today and it appears that the website got the story wrong. Through his publicist Mr. Dorn tells us he was being misquoted. The actor confirms that there were “a couple of conversations with producers last summer” about a possible Star Trek: Discovery role. Those discussions lasted a couple of weeks, however they never lead anywhere and there are “no plans for him to appear at this time” on Star Trek: Discovery.

Unless this is all covering up now, assuming Dorn mis-spoke. ;)

But I was just hoping that were we to see Colonel Worf again, given that it would be some forty years before his appearance in TUC, and thus would he not be lower in rank? And be called, say, Lieutenant Worf?

Though while that Klingon Makeup can cover up human winkles really well, Dorn HAS aged twenty-five years since TUC. Perhaps he'd have been Colonel Worf's own dad, Mogh. 'Cuz they alternate. :P

To be frank the show needs to stand on its own and it has enough links to past series already. I would love to see this at some point but not in the first 2-3 years.

I like Michael Dorn.
I like Worf.
But thank GOD this is not happening.

It would make much more sense for a heavily made up character from Enterprise or recast character from TOS to appear on the show. I was fine with Dorn appearing as Colonel Worf in Trek VI but either de-aging him or having him play another character who looks and sounds like Commander Worf? Please.

I would have been fine with Dorn showing up, I'm still okay with somebody from another series doing the handoff.

Not a huge Worf fan, but I quite like Michael Dorn and would have loved him as a guest character. Who knows, maybe it's still happening somewhen down the road.

Got no issue with Michael Dorn appearing, always liked him, but I'd prefer he played someone new. Colonel Worf was fun for STVI but this show has enough throwback characters already.
