Meyer Possibly Developing Khan Miniseries

Give me a series in the Trekverse 1990's about Khan's creation and the Eugenics Wars.
can't wait

Khannot possibly comment

Can't tell if this is a sly joke based on an untrue rumor, or a subtle confirmation, but good on him for being cryptic and keeping us guessing, while having fun with it at the same time.

As others have said, any concept can make for a compelling program, but given a wide open universe of stories, I'm not sure I'd have chosen to explore Khan.

On further reflection, for my part, I've decided that it doesn't really matter what this miniseries is about, as long as that door's open, now, where we can expect and look forward to STAR TREK in that format. Imagine the years betwixt NEMESIS and -ENTERPRISE- inhabited by a STAR TREK miniseries or two. The Powers That Be left us thirsting for STAR TREK like a flower in the desert for what? How many years was that space, there? A decade? Whatever it was, it felt like an eternity. I thought I'd do myself a desperate outrage, without new STAR TREK on offer. Now, we never see a drought, again, with the (already broached) miniseries format to fill the void ...

The most exciting thing to me is that he didn't deny it, which either means it's true, or at worst, confirms he probably is working on a TV series, rather than something not TV-related... there had been some speculation it could have been a book or comic or video game.

If it is indeed a show, it's really exciting to know that CBS is taking Trek so seriously, whether it's about Khan or not. Even if it is the Khan concept, great. Maybe we can get an ongoing series (Discovery) alongside a different miniseries every year, or thereabouts. Lots of corners of the Trek universe they could explore in a 6 episode story.

"I cannot comment", "Meyer might be...", etc. Rumormill clickbait just is not real news. :( But I khan see how it's a fad nowadays for people to turn the Emperor's new wardrobe into a product line at x-Mart. :D

The rumor mill has always been a hallmark of the internet. As long as it's not outright fabricated, I'm fine with spreading and discussing rumors as long as they're labeled as such.

I don't think the story will take place on Ceti Alpha V. I think it will take place on Earth. From the time he was born to the day he steal the DY100. If I've remember correctly, I may have it wrong. There been talk of doing the Eugenics Wars which will center on Khan for some time. Maybe all the way back to the eighties.

If they can find a way to make the Eugenics Wars gel with the real world of the 80s and 90s I'll be very impressed and enjoy it quite a bit. Certainly a creative challenge, but would be fun to see if they could pull it off.

I'm still waiting for the Col. Green miniseries. An alt-rightish figure is how I might reimagine him. Topical certainly. If we are going to plum the depths of the not-very-likely-story-ideas, id rather that, than Khan. Besides, emerging technology is making selective breeding and older ideas about genetic engineering less likely.

There was a book and a comic titled "To Reign In Hell" having nothing to do with each other, written by different authors, both about this time period. Coincidentally named the same thing. Both very similar to one another, obviously. Many surprising differences too. I'm sure Meyer would go in a different direction, but that title is too damn tasty not to use.

A response to a question, seemingly nobody has ever asked before...

Could it be the Klingons attempted to raid or claim Ceti Alpha for their Empire during Khan's exile? Otherwise the slightly less interesting answer, is that he read about that proverb during his brief stay aboard the Enterprise.

The rumor was that the miniseries would be a survival show. I could see that being interesting. Maybe they come across a crashed federation ship, and clash with them over supplies. They find a weird race of aliens living there. They try to find ways to escape the planet.

Lots of stuff you can do with it, and as long as we're also getting a show like Discovery, I think it could be a nice addition. Would it be my choice for a spinoff? Would it be the best thing they could do?

No. But if it was well done, why not?
