Are you going to get MGS4

Well, I decided to get the game after all so I got it in the mail yesterday. I haven't started playing it yet; I wanna finish Mass Effect first (and I still have to get back to Grand Theft Auto IV).

^ Yeah I just read (on a different page) that the encyclopedia is less then 100MB.

As for how much room MGS4 actually takes up on the BD, a while ago I read an interview with Kojima where he was saying how they can barely fit the whole game onto a BD. Whether that's true or not, I have no idea.

It is possible the encyclopedia wasn't completed when the game went gold though.

Yeah, it's possible. Seems like a no brainer to have included it on the disc though... but oh well.

And, you can access the data on the BD-ROM by booting into a linux install on the PS3. Ubuntu reports 30 gigs. I don't know if it matters at all though, because whatever. GAF-heads are suggesting that they made the game fit on a dual layer disc in order to force the economy of scale thing into action and to get more dual layer data discs out into the world.

^ That's definitely possible. Or maybe they just couldn't get it down it 25GB without making sacrifices.

Yep. Either way, it's too bad they couldn't get alternate language tracks on the disc, among other things.
Still, the encyclopedia is kind of neat. It's basically a somewhat cleaner version of what appears on Wikipedia. A dream version of this would be something multimedia. You pick a specific event in the timeline and then you get to play that scene (or watch a playthrough) as it's explained or contextualized.

As for the camera, it's available during the briefings. Get it during the Act 4 briefings, behind Sunny's computer using the Mark II.

That would explain it. I never used the Mk. II during the briefings, just sat back and watched.

I'd love to know how many polygons are in the cutscene versions of the character models compared to the in-game versions.

You can find 1 battery in each mission briefing expanding the energy duration for the Solid Eye 5-fold...
You can't use the Mk II in the last brieffing btw...

There's usually a battery and an iPod song upstairs in the kitchen. If you save the camera to the Act 4 briefing, the camera is up there too.

You can move the Mk 3's head around in the last briefing... though I don't know why.

So last week I decided to get the game. Today I actually got around to playing it. So far I've played it for about two hours (maybe a bit less) and I have to say I really like it. The cut-scenes are really well done and so far I'm liking the story. I also like that you can basically either shoot your way through the levels, or you can do it the stealth way. So yeah, so far I'm definitely glad I got the game (like I said before, I never played any of the previous MGS games).

The "killing blow" is basically my major problem with it. Too much exposition. Of course, did you read the end bit? He actually admires the fact that Kojima can get away with it.
