Merry X-mass Trek BBS...

300 meter-ish? hmm, that is refit Connie sized then, I guess she's less a long range explorer and more the the kind of ship to rely on when there's trouble closer to home/starbase, solve little disputes, hunt pirates, escort science vessels and so on. :mallory:

I'm thinking she's part of a line of engineering test-bed vessels - USS Hackwrench being the second in the class. ;)

I had a friend who had a similar design--from the old Electronic TMP toy with the low nacelle placement socket.

He called it the Monterey Jack

One possibility. Keep the lower nacelle mount--but have some move up and to the sides--with naceles above the saucer. Keeps the eye moving

There are many possibilities, but this is what I opted for in order for this ship to be this ship. :D

Her configuration kind of reminds me of the Pallada class (and other Polarii).

You know what? Surprise me. I'm curious what kind of lay out this vessel has :-)
okay...here' the layout...now built it...lol

Not entirely sure if I'll keep it 100% the same (the double consoles behind the captain's chair are a bit too much for a ship this size) but I like what I see. Is the captain's chair on a raised platform or are we going down a step there? Also: no second chair for the second in command for a ship this size is a bit of a bummer, so I'm going to add one of those there. Ops and conn are spaced out a bit much, so I'll be shoving those two together a bit. Love the Nova / Prometheus styling of those consoles, I was hoping you'd go that route! For the rest: I'm going to see how this will all fit inside that outer dome while still having windows.

It'll take me some time to do something with this though...

Thanks Guys.
Borgman: like a Connie, the XO is a position holder, so they will have to fill a role, not just a seat...lol, that's why I opted no XO seat. The Captan's chair is raised one step, you can tell by the steps leading to the Conn/Ops "pit".
The reason for the Dual Consoles behind the Captain, is that realistically, those positions are all extremely important, and I always envision a very busy bridge like the one in ST:TMP. Besides, I do not believe anyone has ever done Dual Consoles before ;)
Conn and Ops are separated as they are for two reasons: 1st- not to obscure the Main Viewer in any way, and 2nd- I always like the stellar navigation equipment on the TOS Ent between the Helm and Navigation (to which I am still leaning on bring that back, as I could toss Ops on on of the rear Dual Consoles). Hope that helps :)
But by all means, change or add what you wish. This is not just my ship, but the community's. That is just my reasoning.

I finally got around to disabling my AdBlocker for this site. Even though I already loathe my life for it (fuck you annoying animated banners, fuck you clogging up system resources), I guess it's what I need to put up with to keep using this site. I liked the in-post ads better...
Anyway, some test renders. Need to iron out some mesh errors, but we're getting there...

I had to lower the shuttlebay though. There wasn't enough clearance between the outer hull and the entrance of the shuttlebay to be able to house a door, so yeah... Did give me a bit more room to build in parking spots for shuttles though. On the far right you can see a double layered platform, which meant it could house a LOT of shuttlepods. Went back, rethought and redesigned it to be a regular shuttle parking instead. There's some space in the front left where shuttlepods can be parked. All in all, being able to house one of my Mammoth's and eight Type 6's and then some shuttlepods isn't bad for a single entrance shuttlebay, if you ask me :-)
