Sorry to hear that. I sometimes miss retail but I had a supervisor who was hard ass in terms of getting jobs done, but a good mentor in terms of managing the stresses. He was the one who taught me to let shit roll of my back when it came to customers. Customers don't see a person when they are interacting with an employee. So, I do my best to practice reflective listening (useful in my current field), identifying a quick solution to a problem, and knowing my limits.
