Men in Black III being made (Not April Fools)

Oh no. I predict it will be even worse then the second movie. Who thinks they shouldn't have done any sequels in the first place? :(

At the Sony Pictures presentation of their upcoming summer line-up, Sony President of Worldwide Distribution Rory Bruer...

On the latter half of that timeline, he mentioned in passing the previously announced Spider-Man 4 from Sam Raimi and the long-rumored Ghostbusters 3, but the biggest surprise was that Sony plans to go back to the well and make a third "Men in Black" movie as well.

This was the first announcement that Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones might be back together again, although no further details were given in terms of how far along they are in development, whether there's a script in the works or whether indeed, it will be joining Spider-Man 4 in Sony's summer of 2011.

They really should just close down the internets on April 1st.

This is as big of a joke as Ghostbusters 3 being made.

However I know the secret plot to MiB3, aliens come and the team must get together and fight them off! The second one was a horrible waste of a movie. They should have kept Tommy Lee Jones out of it, and maybe only get him back at the end.... maybe...

Last one is not even worth mentioning. I predict the third one will be a EPIC FAIL!

What worries me is that the third movies in trilogies these days nearly ALWAYS suck compared to the first two movies. It's hard to imagine anything worse thing MIBII. :rommie:

So many interesting ways they could gone with the sequel but they did a complete rehash of the first movie. The MIB cartoon was pretty cool, too bad it didn't last longer.

Men in Black II wasn't very good (I've noticed it plays better on TV, with lowered expectations), but I don't think that means a third film won't be as good as the first. We'll see.

I've always thought MIB:III was inevitable. It was just awaiting Will Smith and may still. Sony wanting to do it is one thing, it happening without Will Smith would for sure spell EPIC FAIL. With Will Smith and it could still underperform at the box office and come out in the black with DVD.

If Will Smith was smart he won't sign onto this movie. It will tank without him.

The first one was great -if a raping of the MiB "legend."

The second one was made of mostly suck and WTFery.

The third one doesn't leave me hopeful.

Such a big gap between sequels for such a frivilous franchise. (The first one was merely lightly entertaining at best.)

Maybe Tommy Lee Jones got tired of trying to out-message movie ex-roomie Al Gore. So he postponed his planned film, The Fourth Burial of Melquiades Estrada in the Valley of Elah, to play in front of a green screen.

The sequel sucked largely because they thought they knew what made the original a fun movie. But like most people in control of their own creation, they're really out of touch of what the audiences like versus what they like.

The universe-within-a-universe spiel was one of the weakest angles of the first, so naturally they tried to amp that up all the more in the sequel. Goofy Michael Jackson aliens was another weak point of the first one and... tada, they ramped that up in the sequel.

If they take a more serious, low-key approach to it, they'd have a serious hit on their hands. That's not to say keep out all of the wild and weirdness, but things like what I mentioned above? Definitely needs to be scrapped. Put more emphasis on the main characters, not how awesomely goofy and creative the aliens are. Would go a long way, I think.

Jackson wasn't an alien. He was just a human recruted by zed, and sent to the north/south pole were they have alien penguins are somesuch nonsence.

I think there should have been a second. It could have been good. It could have been as great as the first film. But it was terrible.

Maybe back then right after the first I could have said a third would be good, but in today's Hollywood, this will suck donkey balls. It's called a Track Record.
