Anyone check out this series yet? Pretty interesting, it stars Jason Lee (Earl, many Kevin Smith films) as a Memphis PD detective. Just got done watching the first episode on my TiFaux and being a fan of Jason Lee, but not a fan of Earl, I checked it out. Seems like promising series.

It airs Tuesdays at 10/9c on TNT.

I caught the last 1o minutes of it and it seemed pretty cool. I usually don't like cop shows at all except CSI. I will try to watch the full ep. when I get a chance. Big fan of Jason Lee, Earl was funny in it's first 2 seasons.

Got the first 2 eps on the DVR, I'm hoping to watch them over the weekend. It looks good from the promos. And add Alfre Woodard to the mix.

I'm a big Jason (Stan's son) Lee fan, especially as Earl (have all the DVD's). That was a great series, but he was great in the Kevin Smith movies too. Great as Azrael in Dogma especially.

"But I'm a fucking demon!" with the golf club sticking out of his chest.

I haven't seen the second episode yet, but the first one sucked imo. I like the Earl actor, but not his character in this show and the writing was just terrible (ok, the old lady was abused, terrible and all that, but does anybody really give a shit about some radio show?). But I don't want to be too judgmental after one episode.

I kept thinking of Jason Lee as Earl as I watched the pilot of this show. I didn't see too much of a difference in his performance yet. He seemed a bit tight. I haven't seen the second episode yet so maybe he loosened up a bit.

Jason Lee is not Stan Lee (the comic book pioneer)'s son. Nor are they related in any way, even by marriage. The only connection the two have is happening to have the same last-name and being featured together in "Mallrats."

It's ok nothing I "must see",but watching Jason Lee it dose remind me how much I hated how NBC ended My Name is Earl with a unresolved cliffhanger,I mean "come on"(as Joy would say) they could have thrown together a proper Series finale.

I think pretty much everybody on the My Name is Earl cast was scientology, apparently the whole premise of the show was Scientology inspired in some way.

I never watched My Name is Earl a lot but I know Jason Lee and Ethan Suplee were both scientologists. However Greg Garcia the creator of the series has said that he is not a scientologist and I really doubt that the show itself has some scientologist agenda.

Don't know, that's what I read. But I don't really care, I hate Scientology and I loved My Name is Earl, so if there was some hidden message or whatever it didn't bother me.

I like Jason Lee, and want to watch it, but I'm afraid it'll be one of many shows where I tell myself that I should watch it and then never do. Then I'll tell myself I'll check it out on DVD and never do.

Oh well. I thought they were related and that was the interesting part of them both being in mallrats. My error.

I'm sorry, but the radio ads make this thing sound exactly like "Wiggum P.I."

I honestly couldn't bring myself to watch something that sounded so incredibly cheesy.

Is that really what they were going for? Or should they fire their marketing department?

There wasn't much on tonite so I watched the first three episodes DVR'ed and I have to say it was pretty much what I've come to expect out of cable cop dramas-very formulaic, well trodden and predictable. By now everyone has been exposed to every conceivable crime story and twist with the suspect that it is pretty much just leaves the actors and the characters and this duo just doesn't do much for me.

Alfre Woodard is great but gets little to do. I'm not compelled to watch any future episodes unless there is just nothing else on.

BTW just how many cops shows can TNT do--there is the new Angie Harmon/Sasha Alexander girl cop series, Saving Grace, The Closer, Law and Order reruns.
