MemoryAlpha editor refuses to change Adira's Gender to "Non-Binary"

So Archduke has been demoted from Admin because of his actions.

Their reasoning behind removing gender from side bars is a combination of things, one because Wikipedia doesn’t do it, and two, because most of the time in-universe biographical screens don’t mention gender.

Policy has been updated to allow gender to be used in the actual article itself. This is why non-binary was removed from Adira’s side bar and put into the opening paragraph earlier. Adira’s page was an exception from the no-gender in side bar rule until that policy was passed. That’s why it stayed up there so long, and because it was a hot topic.

They’ve started a public discord server to allow an easier way to talk about the wiki and allow better community participation and communication.

It’s not that it’s the word itself that’s offensive, it’s using trans people as the butt of a joke. And it doesn’t matter if you get it or not, it’s a shitty thing to do.

Watching the new episode of Fisk, an Australian sitcom about an awkward lawyer.

They are at a local business awards ceremony and the MC at the podium welcomes all by saying "Distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen and friends beyond the binary."

What a difference 20 something years makes.
