Melbourne: "Storm Front"

Overall I liked it - but I don't like the Captain, very unsympathetic character, it looks like they tried to back peddle on that, but his first impression was not favorable to me. I like the peppering of TMP aesthetics was a very good choice I would of liked to see more of that on the bridge.

I will now nit pick did the doctor transfer over so recently from the Valiant that he did not have time to change his uniform? Pacing is always an issue crew that beamed over the redshirt on the bridge was standing there like a log, at least look busy.

Glasses! and this is just me but are so many people allergic to Retnox 5 that they can't take their glasses off for a scene?

I hope the swap in Admirals is a part of the plot, I found the change to be distracting.

Vulcan/ Andorian hybrid...curious.

Lol, go look at 6:27 when the Melbourne crew beams onto the derelict ship's bridge, the redshirt in the back actually takes off his glasses right after beam-in...

Well at least they are getting the production released and making Trek. I am sure things will improve as they do more and learn what works and what doesn't. What sets are they using? The sets look really good and they did use some interesting camera angles. I look forward to more.

I was just teasing them a bit, Kenny. I give Vance and his crew praise for all that work. By the way, since Vance Major (the producer) is also one of the actors on Starship Valiant, I'd say the production shot on the sets owned by Starbase studios which used to be in Oklahoma.

Got ya! I know Vance as well. Thanks.

Yes, yes it was. There was a lot we did that was not done by accident, glasses aside lol. Easter eggs galore of you look hard enough. But Easter eggs that will further the story, and that others can come along and turn it into something

Yea, we learned a lot on this, what worked, what didn't. I loved the experience. In part 2, we actually had to build the hallway out of the transporter room with nothing but wall flats. They said it couldn't be done, but we did it and it looks really good. Honestly one of the best looking shots in both parts. Part 2 I think is better than part 1, but this sets it up. And you have to understand the captain in part 1....he's not necessarily the good guy. That would be bishop. We set out to do trek, but do it differently. By the end of part 2, you'll see where we are headed and why this makes sense. So we're ok for flak with the captain, hell, I hated him until the end of part 2 lol but that's part of the story lol

The Vulcan/andorian hybrid was a character I had in my head since I was a kid. Scaled back. But the concept. He came out really cool, I enjoy him. John did a really good job on the voice, and Nate and Danielle did an awesome job collaborating on make up. It isn't as easy as ppl think. Plus the set is hot as all get out lol

The doctor was taking publicity shots when we called him to do the Carson set. I thought it would be cool to do the publicity shots in Glenn's uniform top you see in that scene, he was never meant to wear that. And the actor doesn't kno trek. So every one missed that it was a valiant patch lol it wasn't until later on after we had already cleared the bridge of debris that I was like "ah shoot" but it was too late. We tried to cgi the Melbourne patch on, but the motion capture was too hard. Fun fact tho, all of the Carson patches are cgi. As are the the Melbourne extras in the cargo bay.

The glasses, yes, I caught shauns glasses after we began filming. But what can you do. He snuck it passed us lol and he's such a sweet guy, timid. I couldn't be mad. If we didn't bookoo bucks, I'd be livid, but all total, this cost 2250, I can live with the mistake. It's a fan film lol I'll blame it on that retnoks plague we never hear abt and magically clear next time haha
Bottom line, and I think this is where most ppl falter, you take the material seriously, but you don't take yourself to seriously. I'm glad you guys enjoy it. Especially enough to chat abt it on here. I'm honored.

The tmp stuff, from the admirals uniform, to the warp effect and transporter, to the phaser and tricorder, we wanted to show progression, even tho we had tos stuff we had to work with. All in all, I think it worked. And I'm glad we were able to offer something just a bit different. I love the lighting on the bridge. I'm a fan of the ep YESTERDAY'S ENTERPRISE, so i asked Scott if we could do a tos version of that, and we put blue gels in and got ourselves a new captain's chair and had a slightly different look to what is usually a very basic bridge. Again, something different.
All in all, I'm happi.

I did enjoy it and thank you for making it, I hope my comments were not taken as malicious. The extent of my filmmaking ends with comedy shorts...

Oh no, I never mind hearing where improvements can be made lol it's how I can grow as a film maker. Critics, I love. Cynics I don't. Critics will give you honest feedback, which you either take or you don't. But you can grow. Cynics, no matter what you do, you can never please no matter how good it is. No one in this post comes across as a cynic lol

I always figured if I had to do a full production, it's leather uniforms and dark sunglasses.

Don't forget slow-mo walks. You NEED slow-mo walks.
Helps if there's a building blowing up in the background....and they don't turn around while it's happening....like their oblivious.

Good, I do not want to crush a spirit that wants to make art, I know sometimes people's comments can be a little too critical and also people can be very sensitive about their work.

UFP-MIB?
Section 31

MIB Trek division would be another one, just have fun. Trying to recreate the exact flavor of Star Trek takes a lot of practice and the harder you try the less fun it becomes.
Engineer:
It's 106 light years to Praxas, we got a full dilithium chamber, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.
Captain:
Hit it!
I guess that's why the call it the blues.
