Impeachment is a tough sell, even in the worst of times. So is the 25th amendment. Though I don't think our Founding Fathers had someone like Trump in mind when laying out the foundation of our government.

Majority of the US House of Representatives has to vote to indict an official. The Senate holds the trial and two-thirds of Senators have to vote for removal.

Democrats would have to walk away with, at least, sixty seats in the Senate to have any shot at removing him from office. Even then, seven GOP senators would be tough to pick up.

America doesn't do special elections for presidents, even if the president resigns. This is because of the long line of succession that's in case the office becomes vacant in any circumstance.

Unfortunately, because the election cycles in America have become so damn bloated (especially in the last couple of decades), snap elections would never happen anyways.
