It's hard to say. I've hardly seen any of the Doctors in anything else besides Doctor Who.
I've been planning on watching Jon Pertwee in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum but I haven't gotten around to it yet. I'm also curious about Worzel Gummidge. Shockingly, it's out on DVD in the U.S.
The only other thing I've seen Peter Davison in was when he played the dish of the day on The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
Paul McGann's role as prisoner Golic in Alien 3 was cut down to next to nothing.
I saw a few of Eccleston's Heroes episodes and he was really good, really compelling. Shame he wasn't in it more.
Tennant was unremarkable as Barty Crouch Jr. in Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire. However, he beat out Kenneth Branagh as my all-time favorite Hamlet.
I guess I should have voted for Eccleston or Tennant. Then again, McGann has given some of the most skilled, layed performances in the Big Finish audios. (I'm not sure any other Doctor actor would have the chops to pull off "Scherzo.") In the end, I voted with my gut, which told me to vote for Pertwee. But I guess I was voting less for best actor and more for most amiable person that I would like to meet IRL.
What is it, an empty box?
Or when he's working with a very disciplined script that doesn't just give him license to overact everything. I still think "Midnight" is his best Doctor Who performance.
"I'm good with rot. Call me the Rotmeister. No, I'm called the Doctor. Don't call me the Rotmeister."

Christopher Eccleston. [...] Heroes...come on! I even have a Claude action figure.

Tennnt's a very good actor, when he reigns it in, or else when the director reigns him in.

Eccleston slightly over Smith due to the fact that I would understand Eccleston better. With Smith I feel like I have to watch the show with Subtitles just to get "everything"
This this this....
And it's sad, really, because so many of his lines are damn funny.
"I'm good with rot. Call me the Rotmeister. No, I'm called the Doctor. Don't call me the Rotmeister."
