Meddling Voyager Crew

Moocey

Vice Admiral
Admiral
In season 2 when Aron Eisenberg and Chakotay are having a space battle,(Initiations) why can't Chakotay just leave the Kazon well enough alone and let him die? I think it's a poor strategy to keep people alive who are actively trying to kill you. But no. Chakotay has this ignorantly compassionate idealism that means you beam the enemy aboard your ship and keep him alive against his will. If he really wanted to have compassion he would have respected the Kazon culture and let him die if defeated. I bet that's what Picard would have done.

If anything it broke the Prime Directive by beaming him on board.

What if that Kazon went on to kill half the crew?

Checkotai is no savage, he is the stronger man that he demonstrates today. I don't know why Moocey is picking a war. He knows that this is: television.

television is ten times more real than reality these days.

A relationship existed between the Federation and the kazon, which I would like to call a state of war. Kathy may have liked to ignore it most of the time, but it's kinda clear from Necheyev talking about the extermination of the Borg that the Prime Directive doesn't apply to species the federation is actively at war with.

Yet ultimately I suppose Kazon-Nog decided that he didn't want to die after all, so Chakotay may have done the right thing. Still, I think one of the Kazon had the right idea when he told Chakotay that saving your enemies is an ineffective way to wage war.

but it's an excellent way to win the peace. The humane treatment of prisoners builds trust which leads towards truces and peace talks, then trust, then peace and reconciliation.

Unless of course your plan is to exterminate or enslave the enemy completely froever? Deny them basic education and ethunize the elderly if they're no longer productive? Gutting every female so there will be no more generations of Kazon rearing up swearing blood oaths about payback.

That was an option for the millions and millions and millions of kazon actively waring with a 150 Starfleet Officers, Crewmen,as well as Kes and Neelix, but not fro Janeway who had human morality bogging her down as much as she'd be afraid of being labeled a pariah everywhere she went as that lady who killed Kazon city ships because they looked at her cross eyed.

War, what is it good for?

You can't let Nog die wtf

Let him die? Hell, I would have killed him off in the first episode of DS9. Nog's character was great, but Eisenberg was easily the worst actor on the show. The only person that keeps him from being the worst actor in that episode of Voyager is Tim Russ.

Tim Russ was one of the best - and most underutilised - performers on Star Trek: Voyager. His depiction of a Vulcan was both delicate and nuanced, a far better job than Blalock would subsequently do on Enterprise.

His acting was wooden and forced. He played a stuffy caricature of a Vulcan.

Hardly. Take a look at "Gravity", say, where he has some very nice, conflicted moments. ;)

Vulcans don't get conflicted. They are wooden.

Russ was perfect for Voyager.

His wooden acting elsewhere is not so hot, although I do find some of his deliveries in Samantha who to be hilarious, I'm just wondering why "Frank" is so emotionally stripped?

His guest spot on Fresh Prince was three times as wooden as any Vulcan should be.

Best Romulan ever.

Why are the rest of the Romulans all so Mellow? Tim is the only Romulan who acts like he needed to get reigned in and have his personality boxed.

He was terrific when he went nuts after the meld with Suder.
"Meld" is awesome.

Tuvok gets to live out every fan's dream: tell off the sanctimonious Janeway and strangle Neelix.
