It's been kind of hard to have any conversation about this, without people, that have taken the sides of the camps, getting involved & sidetracking what's relevant. I've never supported either fighter, but I have praised the skill of both in the past. They are both amazing fighters
However, It's pretty evident to me that even though both camps, especially McGregor's, had behaved wrongfully in the buildup to the fight, enough to debate about whether Khabib's post-fight actions were in some ways excusable, the issue at hand isn't whether they're excusable, understandable, forgivable, etc...
The point is, are Khabib actions, at the arena, defendable? No. He behaved indefensibly... in a crowded arena, that could've sparked into a riot. If I were in any authority position, I'd be hard pressed to think of any reason why I'd let him compete again. Again, you can levee judgements at McGregor too, for his indefensible actions of the past year, & I would not argue them, but I will say they are not equally indefensible.
While there's been varying degrees of harassment, assault, or violence from both sides, & one instance of absolute criminality from McGregor, back in April, what Khabib did was downright dangerous, & frankly takes the cake, & ought to be the most severely penalized imho
As only a peripheral follower, it's something like this, & fighters like these that really make it hard to support this sport
Interesting side note. Earlier in the week, Brendan Schaub absolutely nailed a prediction for the fracas, on the Joe Rogan podcast. I can't figure out how to post the video down to the comment, but it's at 7:39
